November 13, 20205 yr The roof on my Sala needs to be replaced. I cannot find anyplace that sells or repairs Salas. I live in Sattahip and used to see them for sale across from Tesco in Pattaya. Any help is greatly appreciate. TheHatGuy
November 13, 20205 yr Cover with thatch? Highly likely there is someone in your area that can do that.
November 14, 20205 yr Take a picture of it to the SCG Home Center. Thatch might be something of a fire hazard...
November 15, 20205 yr Author Thank you for your input. I’ve been to SCG, HomePro and a few others. I’m would like to find a Sala builder who might have the authentic materials.

You probably won’t find a Sala builder for that. You have hand riven shakes that have been painted so you need to find a woodworker who has a froe, alternatively get one made and learn to use it yourself, it isn’t rocket science, and make them. There are many kinds of wood that can be used. They will have been riven from a newly felled tree so unless they were shipped in will have come from local timber. Any local metal butcher can make a froe from an old leaf spring, probably from a truck as they have the thickness needed.
November 16, 20205 yr Make the tool. And how to make the shingles. You now have a new skill with which to impress your friends ???? "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
November 17, 20205 yr Cannot help you with the shingles but want to warn you about possible termite damage to your Sala. A few years back TGF had a Sala delivered to our new-built Sarin house in Ubon. Evert-hing fine until we went to live in our other house in her village. We visit the Ubon house rarely and soon discovered it was being attacked by termites. Had some guys spray and fix it. We have now moved it to our village house where we can keep an eye on it and repair what still needs to be repaired.
