Still plenty of opportunities in extortion, guns for hire, kidnapping and drugs.

Sorry but those jobs are restricted to a "special" group of Thais.

Yes, they do not actually have to do police work.  I was stopped for walking too fast once.  They have shakedown in their blood.   They will find other work.

To be fair, I have only had one comical, less than pleasant run in with the BiB.   In all other interactions with them, they have shown nothing but kindness.

If Thailand has such a cavalier attitude towards relationships, why not make them all legal?   It is not a blemish in the least to be tolerant of others` life styles.

How did All those people  acquire their Wealth?

They say Crime doesn't pay.

I would say ,that all  depends Who one works for.

So is Arisara Prompow looking for some male companionship to offset the 2 for 1? ????

"...records suggesting...".

That's a cute suggestion.

There are also formal legal records suggesting that he was tried, convicted and sentenced by a court in Sydney for importing 3.2kg of heroin. Prompow, a young soldier in the Thai army at the time, suggested that it was simply a few kilos of cooking flour - just the kind of thing a young Thai soldier carries from Bangkok to Bondi. Got to eat something while in Sydney! Those Thai restaurants are damned expensive for a humble Thai soldier! The forensics lab suggested that the 'flour' was only 70% pure, and so it was suggested that it amounted to only 2.7kg of unadulterated heroin. At sentencing for the suggested conviction - only a suggestion from the judge mind you - it was suggested that young Mr. P do eight years, reduced to six for 'assisting police with their investigation' - the suggestion being that he squealed on his mates - the original sentencing suggestion was reduced to six years and it's suggested that he eventually went down for a four stretch. In later years, Mr. P suggested that he "...only slept at the state sponsored accommodation"

There are also suggestions that he's changed his name on a few occasions - indeed - five times, is the suggested number. I've my own suggestions - but they probably won't make it onto Thai Visa, so I suggest readers do their own research and come to their own conclusions about his suitability for public office. Better to have him out in the daylight where the honest to goodness government can keep an eye on him. Just a suggestion.

What about his morals?  Not to mention ethics.

If I had done 4 years in a prison in any country I'd want to make the most of life while I could also. The interesting question for a writer or soap opera is why the mia yai puts up with the arrangement being so public? Many possibilities, and some kind of a real human story there.

She doesnt have to bang him , and is independent financially from him, but he has connections to the top, and perhaps she likes her men younger and more discreet :wai:

Some time ago He said He will sue the OZ paper that printed the fact that He

spent time in jail in OZ,

Question:  Did he actually sue???

What I like is the Thai government is so open about its nepotism and it's ministers links with drugs. A refreshing change. Basically they say to the plebs 'F***k you' we are in charge and we have the army to back us up so we can do as we like

No. No suggestion of that, yet.

No mention either of the suggestion that, after being deported from Australia, he also then had to do three years' custody in Thailand - for rape & murder - for which he was subsequently acquitted.

Thanks for that.

It reinforces my attitude to Thai justice.

Ive  just vomited.............

She won the audience’s hearts with the simple answer: “I will always choose love over money.”

Her lavish collection features a Hermès Kelly 28 in black croc worth nearly Bt2 million, a shiny Hermès Constance in alligator leather worth Bt1.4 million, and a Chanel 2017 rocket worth Bt680,000, among others.

She apparently developed the expensive bag habit between 2016 and 2019.

Along with high-end designer bags, Tanaporn also has a taste for luxury cars: her garage reportedly houses a Mercedes-Benz worth Bt5.8 million and a Bt8.9-million Porsche.

There are no Thai words for morals or ethics.

Good luck to her. Perhaps these accoutrements have come through her own hard work and thrift

Just call a Mia Noi what they really are, a concubine that when they age out are tossed aside for the younger ones or put out to pasture like the Sultans of old did.  The Mia Noi issue still shows that Thailand is a Feudal Society in its way it deals with courtesans or as one would say a mistress.

Its pretty normal all over the world if you have money and/or position.

One example is comrade Putin.

Amazing isn't it.  We all know that nepotism and bribery are part and parcel of governments worldwide.  Admittedly more rife and more scandalous in some places than others.  Not so long ago there was outrage in the UK over MP's expenses and some of the ludicrous things they claimed for.  The net result of the Parliamentary inquiry resulted in numberrous resignations, disciplinary actions and criminal prosecutions. The Conservative MP for Mid Bedfordshire went on record in saying that many of her colleagues "feared a suicide" and that MPs were "beginning to crack". She likened the atmosphere in Westminster to that surrounding Senator Joseph McCarthy's "witch hunts" of suspected Communists during the 1950s.  Maybe an over reaction, but it just goes to show that in one country an MP gets hauled over the coals (quite correctly) for claiming expenses for having the moat around his country estate cleared and it's a national scandal, yet in Thailand a senior government member has more attention paid to his marital status than having his criminal record being brushed under the carpet.  No wonder the students are not happy.
