A Philippine national, Liny Paengkusan Camaono, 30, and a Thai, Thanyares Saiyanoi, 22, were arrested for running a company that allegedly scammed people into investing in a loan business from an office in Bangkok’s Asoke area, Immigration chief Pol Lt-General Sompong Chingduang said on Wednesday.

“Immigration police acted on a tip-off from Philippine victims who live in Thailand that the company named Filipino Cooperative Investment Loan, which was registered by the two suspects, had allegedly scammed them into investing in a loan business that boasted of giving 15 per cent profit within a month,” he said.

“The company had been advertising via online media and amassed more than 700 victims. A preliminary investigation revealed that it had a rotating investment of over Bt50 million per month,” Sompong said.

“The company would pay the profit as promised in the first few months but then stop and cut off all contact with the victims,” he said.

“Liny was widely known as the ‘Queen of Scammers’ in Philippine media, while the estimated damage to victims caused by her company is 116 million pesos, or Bt75 million,” Sompong added.

After the arrest, the two suspects were taken to the Economic Crime Suppression Division for interrogation and the pressing of charges.

"Filipino Cooperative Investment Loan" might as well call themselves "come hither suckers we're her to fleece you company"...

anyone who invest with a Filipino should have their head exemand and quickly...

Got to agree with above. Anything that gives a 15% return in a month could be linked to something like a South American drug cartels. Although I do remember Thai money lenders hanging around Soi Nana back in the 1980's demanding 10% a month with motorcycle riders doing collections.

Getting involved with either is not good and shows the investors didn't activate their brains.

Took a lesson from the Nigerian con artists I see.  Funny how there is always a Thai or two involved in ripping of either their own people of being used as the shill.

Taken to the Economic Crime Suppression Division for interrogation and this sounds very lucrative info ????

Be careful of Pinoy gangs in BKK , they usually have a couple of stooges hand off your bag or wallet and then this English speaking guy will calm you down and get you a coffee snd tell you don’t call police , going on for years , they just got my friends passport

My wallet stays in my front pocket with my hand on top, as does my phone in the other pocket.

The number of people I see with half the phone sticking out of a back pocket are asking to be ripped off.

Yes, stay away from those Filipinos.

Much better returns to be had with Brit and US boiler room boys or the romantic Nigerians.

Never been scared of any Thai, even if they give me the old stink eye.  (And not because they're weak, just because they are generally peaceful and trust worthy people.)

Filipinos are a whole different kettle of ball games though...  A lot of them have a pretty big chip on their shoulder and they are far more likely to be violent.
