Registered Disabled

Featured Replies

I am a british citizen 46 years old and registered disabled.

I stay in thailand 9 months of the year.

I am finding it increasingly difficult to do the visa run every 90 days.

Are they're any exemptions made to registered disabled people so they can report to local immigration office instead.

Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks :o

What is your present visa status ? You will need a DECENT medical certificate for ongoing treatment and you can acquire the status you require. By decent I mean something much better than a local clinic certificate. A senior physician from a respectable hospital is the way to go.

Dear Dr Pat Pong

Thank you very much for your reply.

I am a one year multiple entry O visa.

When you say a decent medical certificate,do you mean one issued in thailand or one issued in the uk. In the uk i am under two harley street specialists.

I am registered disabled in the uk.

so what is the exact documentation that i need.

how much of it do i need.

who do i present it to and what will it entitle me to do in relation to visa runs.

Any advice greatly received.

thanks POMPOOEYMAN :o

I do not think that there is any provision in the Thai rules to allow you to do your visa runs at the local immigration instead of across the border.

The possibility to get an extension for medical reason must be supported by medical certificate from local hospitral stating that you are ongoing treatment and that you cannot physically do your border run until X date.

It will be at the discretion of the Thai immigration to grant it or not.

We have had mixed reports (for example of road accident in intensive care)

Good luck

You can check with your countries Thai Embassy for their interpretation.

Also, do a google search for "embassy Thailand" and you can read the

requirements from their website.

You need THAI medical documents to support your request for Visa/extension. This for the reason that immigration want to be able to fall back on someone locally in case of doubt or suspected abuse. Your British doctor is of no help for this.

If you go to a reknowned international hospital like for example Bumrumgrad in BKK, they have a Visa/extension office right in the hospital with advisors from the hospital that will help you as well as Immigration staff who can deliver/extend visa right there to you. So if you are on treatment there you should have no problem to extend the treatment for any length of time without the need to travel out of the country or go anywhere outside the hospital, assuming this situation can be supported by the required medicval certificartes the hospital doctors can deliver about your situation.

Good luck.

I agree with this, but do not forget to add a copy of you UK disability status document,

and any letters from you UK doctors, it all adds to the argument. :o
