Popular Post webfact
THAI to pursue MRO project at U-Tapao despite delays By THE NATION Thai Airways (THAI) intends to continue the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) project at U-Tapao Airport even though it cannot invest in any project during its rehabilitation period, a THAI report said. The report said collaboration between THAI and Airbus in the MRO project has been delayed due to the Covid-19 situation and its impact on the aviation industry. In September, the Bankruptcy Court approved rehabilitation plans for the national flag carrier. THAI stated its intention to continue the join the MRO project, as it could generate a huge amount of revenue for the corporation. The report said THAI believed the direction of the MRO project would be clarified, after the THAI rehabilitation plan is submitted and agreed upon and the virus crisis improves. The special adviser for infrastructure development in the East Economic Corridor, Chokchai Panyayong, expected the private sector to state its decision to join the MRO project at the end of this year, or at the beginning of next year. Moreover, the MRO centre will be opened in 2024 instead of 2021 or 2022 as announced before. Popular Post PREM-R
Airbus pulled out. THAI say they are looking for 'new partners' or will have to return the allocated land to the navy. https://www.aircosmosinternational.com/article/mro-airbus-cancels-its-center-project-in-thailand-2858

Cake Monster
What are these people Smoking ? Airbus declared many Months ago, that they were no longer interested in entering into any MRO project with Thai Airways, or the Thai Government. The " delay " in signing an MRO was never anything to do with Covid or the issues surrounding it. Airbus pulled out BEFORE Covid became known to the World. These Politicians in Thailand are delusional to say the least.
tyga
Knowing this is just hot air, it makes you wonder about all the other EEC projects viability and who is really interested in it. All this destruction and money wasted for what? Personally, living right next door to U tapao, I wish the whole site would be turned back over to the Thai Navy and nature left how it was when I first moved here. One day Thailand will wake up and wonder why their once beautiful green country is now just one nasty hot grey concrete disaster zone (thinking Bowin here...) Oh yes, I can just see the foreign tourists just can't wait to see all the industrial states and 18 wheel trucks. Meanwhile in other news, the last remaining tree was grubbed out in the central reservation of Highway 7 to make way for more concrete and cars. You can now even drive all the way from BKK to Pattaya without any grass at all in the central reservation though the part from Pattaya to Ban Chang still has some (paraquat will take care of that...)

Sydebolle
Airbus called it a day earlier in the year and nobody in his right mind would do any business (starting with buying an air ticket for a flight NOT leaving today) with Thai Airways anymore. Latter needs to be closed, the culprit thieves to be locked in jail and the keys thrown away for good, mop up whatever is left and get a new company under professional leadership with experts (the deal with SAS worked at that time just beautiful for all, except those greedy air force pr1cks) to restart Air Thailand or Thai or something similar. Airbus will know what to do and they have interests running in Malaysia and China; Thailand has to come forward with really good arguments to get Airbus back to the negotiation table; too many joint ventures resulted in a join-an-adventure for the foreign JV partner (Carlsberg is one of the more visible ones back in 1997) ........
