Rao Tiew Duay Gun program - Expat registration questions

Recommended Posts

Hello All:  I just recently heard about the Rao Tiew Duay Gun program that the Thai government has to encourage local tourism, is now encouraging expats to join and travel.  I have tried registering on their website but unable to.  It appears that you need to have a Thai ID card.  My wife and I hold one year "O" visas, so is it possible to register and take advantage of this program?

It was mentioned in Thai website for the program here.

Any help or insight that can be offered would be muchly appreciated!

I checked with my wife... this is the 40% off hotel price and food. And it is for up to 10 nights.

Unfortunately it is for those with Thai ID cards only. And you have to book 3 days in advance.

My wife used her 10 days... we had two very cheap holidays!

so, you had no problems when you arrived with your wife?  I'm assuming you're non-Thai.

No, no problem as a Thai books the room...I am from the home of Brexit.

Best to phone the hotel where you want to stay and they will help you to book

Thanks.  Was looking on booking.com & then tried the resort's FB page and they are offering better rooms at lower prices.  All new to me & the mrs. Do you have to pay the full amount up front & get a refund, or...     Wife is wary, says there's a lot of cheating going on.

Yes, you have to pay upfront, and is not refundable, and you have to pay at least three days before you go.

You’re supposed to be able to pay by credit card, but it never worked for us, and the hotel helped us to pay by  bank transfer.

Where are you thinking of going because I might be able to help you with suggesting a nice hotel

kanchanaburi we stayed at Good Times Resort, we have to stay there many times before.

The other place we stayed was Cha am,  called Bay window at sea...pool access room was good

Yes go direct to the hotel every time at the moment
