The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) has warned clubs and players that documents are circulating that are an attempt to scam them.

They said that the FA name is being used on fake documents to extort money from sportsmen for the scammers' own benefit.

Registration and endorsement fees are not charged by them, they stated.

They showed slightly redacted documents that looked like letters from the FAT and a top club called BG Pathum United.

The full extent of their warning in English is as follows:

"The Football Association of Thailand wish to inform that recently there have been fraud documents created by scammer circulating to players and agents around the world, impersonating to be of official documents from our association as well as our affiliated clubs - the impersonator/scammer also illegally used the name and last name of our association and our affiliated club executive management as well as the logo of our association on the scam documents.

We wish to reiterate that our association has never had any policy of charging foreign players with any legal security and registration/endorsement fees and that the letter was not issued by our association.

FA Thailand has been continuously informing agents and players who have approached our association to verify the nature of the documents and have such provided the fact to the parties to avoid making contact or financial commitment with the impersonator/scammer, our association have also publish a fraud alert notification on our official channel to inform the public of the ongoing matter with regards to the falsification of documents created by the scammers.

Hence, we advise you and your player not to make any further contact with them or commit any financial payment. It would be utmost appreciated if you could share this fact to your fellow agent and players in your contact in order to prevent them from falling into the trap of the scammer.

An example of the fraud and scam documents are indicated above for your closure and necessary attention.
