A friend of mine retires at Christmas, his plan is to spend 6 months of the year in Thailand (Samui) and the other 6 months in England. Can anyone see any visa/entry problems with this?

He could use a retirement extension of stay with 800k in Thai bank account or 65k monthly income certified by Embassy and a re-entry permit. He could also obtain this in the UK in the form or an O-A visa but police clearance/medical would be required.

Or he could use a multi entry non immigrant O visa and make a border run at the 90 day point.

Or he could use a two entry tourist visa that he extends for 30 days each and makes a border run at 90 days.

Or he could use a three entry tourist visa and makes border run every 2 months.

First two choices would be the best.
