Thailand’s Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has assured that people can still travel to the northern region of the country, as the recent outbreak of COVID-19 in area is limited and is under control.

Meanwhile, three new COVID-19 cases were reported today in the north, two in Chiang Rai province, related to Thai returnees from Myanmar’s Thachilek township, and one in Tak province.

The minister urged Thai people working in Thachilek to return, assuring that they will be provided with free local quarantine, health screening and treatment, if they are infected.

Given any politician's economical use of the truth, on balance of probabilities the opposite is more likely to be true.

Who will come forward now to take a test, when they'll end up as criminals on every newspapers front page?

Didn't the same minister also say they were to be prosecuted?

Don't think there is going to be a rush to take up the offer.

He's saying the ones who already crossed the border illegally will be prosecuted. The ones who surrender themselves to quarantine will not.

Having said that, and in view of their earning capacity, I can't see too many wanting to stay put for 14 days in quarantine.

he's wearing a mask. hot dog.

That's so we can't see his mouth moving.

The old saying - how can you tell if a politician is lying? You can see his lips moving.

Oh dear. We were planning a trip to Loei in January. Perhaps we'd better stay home!

As long as these Quarantine dodgers are on the loose how can he assure people that it is

safe ? Can someone please tell the so called Health Minister that the virus is contageous

Telling Anutin that Covid 19 in contagious, is a pointless exercise.

The man has no Medical Qualifications at all, and therefore does not even know what it means.

Why, Loei is nowhere near CR / CM.

You need a vaccine for that?

Vaccine, what vaccine?  “No hab,”, and  I do not believe a word of what the pharmaceuticals sell, there is no safety of long or medium term side effects.

But let me tell you that after 10 years living in the North, high levels of pollution have caused to me pulmonary emphysema with the consequent deterioration of the lungs.  At smog season, every years avoid Chiang Mai Feb., Mar., April, and need to live in any beach in south. Several studies seems to confirm that short and medium term exposure to contaminants can increase the incidence of COVID-19 infection. So, ooking today the high and danger levels of Pollution, Said that; I assure you that “northern provinces are NOT safe for travel during the festive ...Or not festive...season”.

I think it depends if it's safe smog or foreign smog.
