rooster59 Posted December 6, 2020 Share Posted December 6, 2020 Chiang Rai orders strict border controls against COVID-19 supawadee wangsri CHIANG RAI (NNT) - The Commander of the Third Army Area has instructed military officers in the Chiang Rai and Phamuang Task Force to take turns patrolling the border area to prevent illegal border crossings and the spread of COVID-19. Lt. Gen. Aphichet Suesat, Commander of the Third Army Area, led a team to deliver policies to and hear a report on the COVID-19 situation from administrative authorities, medical units and officials of the agencies that perform duties at the 2nd border checkpoint, Mae Sai district, Chiang Rai province. Lt. Gen. Aphichet said today that the Pha Muang Task Force, Chiang Rai police and officials of the Chiang Rai Immigration Office have patrolled the border and natural channels which include mountain passes and areas near Mae Sai around the clock, both on foot and by car to prevent illegal border crossings. The 37th Military Circle, Meng Rai Maharat Military Camp, the 3rd Infantry Battalion, the 17th Infantry Regiment and and Phamuang Task Force have been instructed to take turns patrolling the border area around the clock to prevent illegal border crossings and the potential spread of COVID-19. Since November 29, no illegal border crossing has been detected. Prachon Prachsakul, Governor of Chiang Rai, said today there had been nine COVID-19 patients in Chiang Rai hospitals but they have all recovered. Not a very big river either - 30m max and in many places there are sandbanks which reduce the width to less than 10m.
