All Visitors to Cambodia must undergo mandatory 14 day quarantine as Government ends “Sponsorship” scheme

Featured Replies

The Ministry of Health has issued new rules for health measures relating to the entry of visitors to Cambodia from December 12, 2020 onwards. The latest rules mean the end of the “Sponsorship” scheme, which had previously allowed investors, business people, company employees, experts and technicians to be guaranteed by a sponsoring company or organisation and therefore self quarantine at a place of their choice, rather than spend 2 weeks in a Government chosen hotel and have to pay a $2000 deposit.

All visitors to Cambodia will now be required to undergo the mandatory quarantine under Government supervision and pay an upfront deposit to authorities to guarantee they adhere to guidelines and to cover the cost of their accommodation and testing over the 14 day period.

This latest move comes in response to the November 28 Community Incident which has seen Cambodia’s first community and cluster spreads of the COVID-19 virus, with a total of 29 cases now linked to the incident.
