I have been plagued with prostate issues for 18 months now and am writing this post from my hospital bed.

I was brought into hospital by ambulance, it is my third visit to ER in 7 days, and twice I

I have had 2 operations  for a urethal stricture in the last 6 weeks to stop extreme pain in my urether.

The first operation seemed to be a success, no pain, I even took the results to show an eminent urologist at Bumrungrad and he said all looked well. But then after 2 weeks the pain returned and it was 10 times worse.

I had to go to the ER at Ram and my Doctor wanted to do another cystascope. He did that, said he could find nothing wrong, but he had widened the tube and my flow has improved and is not stop start as it was before.

However, the pain came back in 2 days after discharge and I cannot get out of pain without strong injections.

I have yet to see the doctor, he is not based at this hospital, but he has no idea what's wrong, so if anyone has any ideas as to why I am suffering so much would be gratefully appreciated, this is ruining my quality of life.

Thanks.

I would have gone to the urologist in BK but was in too much pain to get there.

Could be an infection. What about kidney stones?

Sometimes a prostate infection is difficult to identify via urine sample.

If you can ejaculate they can test it more accurately.

I feel for you hope you get it corrected soon.

I'm just thinking a guy in that much pain, the last thing on his mind would be sex or an ejaculation.

Urethral stricture causes reduced flow and retention, but hardly "extreme pain". There has to be some other underlying issue.

Are you on any medications to relax the urethra and prostate? Has the hospital checked for infection?

They are continuously checking for infections but can find nothing.

The doctor has now been in and has no idea what's going on, he is just giving me pain medication, but I have to be very careful with it because it can trigger opioid respiratory depression in me.

I have had so many opioids since these issues started that I am now allergic to some of them, Morphine seems OK they gave that to me when I came in yesterday, but Pethadine gives me trouble. Tramadol also is a problem, as are benzos.

I will be seeing a specialist later today to discuss these issues

Infection or stones are the 2 most likely things

A mystery infection? The checks they are running may not be detecting an exotic bacterium or virus.

If I can get out and get to Bangkok then maybe they can help me more

It has nothing to do with sex.

If he can ejaculate a prostate infection can be best determined thru the ejaculate fluids not a urine sample.

Point taken; however, if you can manage that while in severe pain you're a better man than I am.

Ha.  I agree sounds painful.

Just trying to help the guy out does not sound like fun at all.

Have you has a kidney test done, not for stones, for any damage to the kidneys ?

No, why do you think that my problems and pain in my penis could be a result of kidney issues?

It's something that has never been mentioned

Many thanks

Back in 2012 when I was living in Sydney, Australia, I remember seeing a urologist who recommended putting a camera down through the eye of my tiger so to speak to see if I had any kidney damage.

My symptoms might have been different to yours, i.e. I would urinate at least 20 times a day and was on meds for 3 years to reduce the amount of times I was going, compliments of my GP, however the meds didn't seem to be working, so a mate said forget the Dr, go to a Urologist, long of the short the Urologist went in and said that my Urethra was restricted and kidneys were fine, we were watching it all on the screen, real weird, anyway once he established both, i.e. kidneys were fine and there was a restriction, he recommended I have a procedure called Urolift, it was done during the afternoon and I was home in the evening.

The only reason I ask if you ave had a kidney test is because his words echoed in my mind, suffice to say I think a blood test might be able to see if anything out of the ordinary might be happening, I am no Dr by far and am not wanting to cause you concern, but this might be another one crossed off of the list.

I also did a quick Google search:  In addition to uncomfortable urinary symptoms such as reduced flow rate and more frequent urination, a urethral stricture can lead to complications that include urinary tract infections, prostatitis, urinary retention and kidney damage.

Hope this helps somewhat, like I said, don't want to cause you any concern.

That pretty well leaves infection. Which can be hard to diagnose .  Where exactly is the pain located and what is it like? Is it worse when you urinate?

They'd have to be damn good-looking and stark naked to boot, and even then I doubt I'd be able to function in pain. Against hospital rules anyway.

OP, it's obvious whatever you have is not a common garden variety of ailment if your current medicos can't find what is wrong. Next step is to get the best medical help available in CM, or drag yourself somehow to Bangkok and Bumrungrad.

When you say you are in pain, what type is it? Burning when you urinate, throbbing, constant, spasms? Not that I know anything about it, but it may help sheryl with her advice.

I have had 3 UTI tests in the last 2 weeks Sheryl.

I have just finished another course of antibiotics even though I don't have an infection.

The pain is in the uretha, I don't pee when I am in such pain so I don't know if it is worse.

I think my plan is just to stay here until I am pain free.

I have already had a breathing reaction to the Oxycontin about an hour ago even though I took it 7 hours ago.

I don't know if I would be in pain or not right now, but it's quite a thing having one's uretha stretched, it might be that it just needs time to heal, not that the doctor said that, he just said he had never known anyone have a problem like mine before, he is a bit miffed that I have ended up on his plate after already having consulted 3 other urologists in the city.

I have just posted a very similar reply to your question to Sheryl above

As mentioned infections can be very hard to diagnose, especially when one has taken antibiotics.

What you describe sounds like inflammation of the urethra (which is indeed very painful). It is usually due to either infection or mechanical irritation (as form instrumentation - so be aware that any more invasive tests or catheter insertions may make it worse)

Ask the doctors to give you a drug called Phenazopyridine

It will turn your urine bright orange and temporarily ease the pain in the urethra

Drugs that alkalize the urine (or sumple baking soda) may also help

Both myself, and a good friend, who is about 70, have prostate issues. Mine are minor. His are more serious. All we use are herbal treatments. No meds. No support of Big Pharma, and no destruction of our livers. Saw Palmetto, and Stinging Nettle leaf and Stinging Nettle Root. Incredibly effective at maintaining prostate health, and dealing with all kinds of plumbing problems. Plus, unlike the toxic meds, they prevent prostate issues, and support urinary tract health.

My flow is far better, easier, quicker and without pain, when I take these daily. Saw Palmetto started giving me headaches some time ago, and I cut that one out. The other two are miraculous, and have been used in Chinese medicine, and elsewhere for thousands of years.

he does nto seem to be complaining of prostate problems as such but rather an very irritated urethra.

Tghe problem is that the more invasive tests/catheterizations they do, the more irritated it gets

Spot on Sheryl

It is my urether that is really bad The doctor has agreed to no more poking about.

I had a similar issue recently. Burning and decreased flow. I tried Azithromycin, self prescribed for two days, and it knocked it right out. It is well known to help treat urinary and urethrea type bacterial infections.

Thanks for the tip.

However there is nothing wrong with my flow, as a result of the operation I can pee freely now whereas I had to sit down to force the pee out before, now I can stand again.

That's the good thing to come out of this experience!!
