PHUKET: National Chief Ombudsman Gen (Ret.) Viddhavat Rajatanun visited Phuket yesterday (Dec 15) to inspect the “Smart Pier” system operating at Ao Por Pier on Phuket’s east coast as a move to help improve marine safety for passengers.

Chiang Rai police set to summon 3 Thais who entered country illegally with Covid-19

Provincial Police Region 5 chief Pol Lt-General Prachuap Wongsuk instructed Chiang Rai Immigration Police chief Nattawut Saengduen on Wednesday to charge three people who illegally entered Thailand with Covid-19. The three have since recovered but are required to continue to observe their symptoms at home for another 14 days.

Thai Smile flights hoped to spark tourism boost for Phuket

PHUKET: Thai Smile, the domestic carrier operated by THAI Airways International, will increase its number of flights to Phuket in the New Year in the hope that other airlines will follow, leading to cheaper airfares to Phuket.

Cabinet acknowledges traffic accident reduction plan for New Year

Door knobs at quarantine facility suspected as source of infections among Thai medics

Health investigators have found the virus which causes COVID-19 on door handles at an alternative state quarantine facility and suspect that this could be the source of a cluster of infections among Thai medics working there, said CCSA spokesman Dr.Taweesin Wissanuyothin this morning (Wednesday).

42 areas in Bangkok and suburbs still have excessive pollution, though better than yesterday

Air quality in Bangkok and its suburbs has slightly improved today, but 42 areas still have excessive amounts of PM2.5 in the atmosphere, with Ma Charoen Petkasem 81 Road, in Nong Khaem district, being the worst affected.

ROME (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Nearly one in four people may not get COVID-19 vaccines until at least 2022 because rich countries with less than 15% of the global population have reserved 51% of the doses of the most promising vaccines, researchers said on Tuesday.
