Suzuki carry

Recommended Posts

Hi folks, I'm checking outta my new ride and am interested in Suzuki carry at 380kb new.

I've Googlethe fuel consumption and I guess it's around 8km per litre?

That's pretty shi te and I've looked at the weight...

https://www.suzuki.co.th/en/carry/

Why the hell gross weight is at twice of kerb weight??  At 2ton.

Is this weight from the steel rack?

Can this be removed, attached easily?

Engine is 1.5l 4 cylinder, 5 speed, eps steering.

Driving at 4,5th gear, maybe it's as same as normal sedan?

How's the condition at 90km/h?

Engine noise, handling, aerodynamic, etc

Any owner of this beast enlighten me pls?

This is obviously not a long distance car, but made to carry stuff around in your area, thus consumption isn't really important if you drive it just a few kilometers a day.

The weight without any load (kerb weight) is 1065kg, the load capacity of the vehicle 945kg, thus the gross weight (kerb weight + load) is 2010kg, sounds right to me.

Haha, good joke. I think you can't even adjust the seats in this car.

Doing this speed on a Honda Wave is probably quieter.

The Suzuki specs say the Carry has a very low final drive ratio (4.8) so good for pulling a load around at low speeds but probably relatively noisy and thirsty at higher speeds.

Not sure where you googled fuel consumption but Wikipedia says:

Fuel consumption in city: 13–14 km/L (7.7–7.1 L/100 km)
Fuel consumption on highways: 16–17 km/L (6.3–5.9 L/100 km)

Some forums talk about ~12km/L.  Like most vehicles, probably depends a lot on how it's driven.

The kerb weight of 1 ton is pretty good for a light truck.  Gross weight of 2t just means it can carry a load of about 1t.  So similar load capacity to a pickup at 2/3 of the kerb weight and power.  With passengers only, the Carry is still lighter than most cars and pickups.

I worked for a company years ago that had a couple of the early 2 strokes.  They were tough and fun to drive around site, but I would not want take on on the highway.
