Robski
I've often been introduced to certain groups or albums from other peoples recomendations, quite often in conversation over a few beers. So I thought I'd list my top five with a brief description of why they are such good albums and I hope you will take the time to do the same. Hopefully this will give me some good tips as to what is worth listening to, or what I've missed out on. It's hard to pick just five as my all time favorite list could stretch to 30-40 albums, so this list is not definitive and is subject to change depending on what I'm currently listening to most, so here we go... in no particular order. Radiohead. OK Computer. Radiohead have a very unique style, melancholy and introspective, some of their songs are great and others a bit dreary, you can love them or hate them, but this album is fantastic with great musicianship and production, theres not a bad song on there. Smashing Pumpkins. Siamese Dream. Smashing Pumpkins the great American nihilists, but what a superb album. I've never come across another album able to produce such emotions from the music and lyrics, this one should be played very, very loud. Jimi Hendrix. Electric Laydyland. A classic, worth it alone for the 15 minute rendition of Voodoo Chile, just to think that nearly all his songs started off that long and most of it ended up on the editing room floor. U2. Achtung Baby. I'm not a massive fan, but for me it's a toss up between this and the Joshua Tree and this is by far the better album, you'll surprised how many of the songs on there you know. U2 doing what they do best, great lyrics and screaming guitars. The Specials. Their first album. A band in a league of their own, an album that defines an era. Witty, sharp and fantastic Ska music, the Brits may not have invented it but the Specials took it to another level, I never get tired of listening to this album Edited May 7, 2007 by Robski
Tilokarat
Astral Weeks - Van Morrison: His voice is haunting and carries the whole album. The words to the songs, when you can make them out, are quite interesting. Stink - McKenna Mendelson Mainline: A great Canadian blues group. Unfortunately, they had to change the words and title of their crowd favourite, 'The Attack of the Fifty Foot P____' to 'Beltmaker'. The Sun Recordings - Elvis: Great 1950s rock 'n' roll, rockabilly songs such as Mystery Train, Baby, Let's Play House, Good Rockin' Tonight Stan Rogers - Great Canadian folk music including the song that should be the national anthem, North-West Passage The Beatles - Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band: A great theme album, with many enjoyable songs

Robski
I'm really pleased that this thread has caught the interest of some of you, but.... Could you please add to your top five albums a brief description of them and why they are favorites of yours, you know like a discussion you would have about your favorite music in the pub, come on persuade me why your top five is better than mine and I might actually go out and buy some of these albums. Thankyou thankyou thankyou.
