Had a Viet Jet flight this morning long lines maybe about 20 minute wait.

Saw these 3 machines listing multiple airlines a lady assigned to assist people told me they were less then one month deployed.

For carry-on only.

Punch in Ref number it spits out the ticket took 20 seconds.

No that new. At least for a flight (Thai Smile) mid year I used one.

As I travel with a checked bag I still have to drop it at the "internet" counter.

 

The real surprise is the long queue at VietJet

Self check in kiosks seem a good idea though they rarely help with check-in lines as the airlines simply reduce the number of staff accordingly. Probably only of any benefit if carrying hand baggage only (no checked-in cases). Printing at home makes most sense if only that would be more widely available. 

Those lines for VietJet were same at end of November. A popular airline thesedays.
