I have my appointment to renew my 5 year licence on 28 December. Will I have a problem using a certificate of residence issued  by the embassy on 27 October? Thinking about going into Bangkok to get a new certificate.

I was told that they last 3 months, but some have said 12 months.  Can you not phone your DLT and ask?   If not, I would give it a go before you go through the hassle of getting a new one.

DLT have always retained any residence certificate I've presented, though they have accepted a copy when obtaining dual drivers licences.

@pj123 Unless things have changed a Residence Certificate may only be valid for 30 days.....that's all I got last time; two years ago.

"The certificate should have a date for when it expires or a statement that it is only valid for 30 days from the date it was issued."

My certificate has no expiry date. I will ask my wife to call the LTO. Thanks

I had to get one when I needed a new book for my truck..... they looked at it and returned it to me. I then used it again over 3 months later to do the same for my motorcycle book. I also successfully used a copy of an old one when applying for a tax ID, after being messed about from pillar to post by them and immigration.

When you renew the driving licence they of course keep it.

My Mrs says the one I had does not mention a validity date, but states when I entered Thailand last and when my Permit to Stay expires.
