PHUKET: Phuket Provincial Police Chief Maj Gen Pornsak Nuannoo has ordered for all people arriving in Phuket by road to be screened at the Phuket Check Point for potential carriers of COVID-19.

The move follows Phuket Governor Narong Woonciew on Sunday ordering all officials to ramp up efforts to screen for potential carriers of the virus following the outbreak in Samut Sakhon, on the outskrts of Bangkok, where the number of confirmed COVID-19 patients had reached 821 by last night. The vast majority – 788 – were migrant workers and the other 33 were Thais.

The Public Health Ministry tested 4,688 people in the province over the weekend and will complete testing the 5,612 others it deemed to be at risk today.

A lot of cases of no tax, licence, insurance or mot will be found ????

I am being told by three different sources, that schools will be closed for a few days, and likely through New Year. This is because someone, I believe a truck driver from Phuket tested positive, and he has two children in different schools.

Too late, one reported case in Phuket today already.

2 cases. Not a truck driver, as far as I know. It is a big bike rider who traveled around the South and stopped for lunch in Surat, Pang Nga and Koh Lanta, then crossed into Phuket with friends. Stayed at Andaman Lanta Resort (Dec 10.) 11-12 had activity with a 40 people group, no masks, drinking and singing. Sat with people from Samut Sakhon (where the first outbreak was reported).

He owns a big bike shop in Ko Kaew (according to the wife - Automobile Hat Yai is the name of the shop). More info as the Coconut Telegraph updates me.

Came back with family of 5 on the 13th. at 7pm and went to a restaurant called Super Beef near Rassada area. On 14th., went back to work. On 17th. symptoms showed up. 18th. coughing and headache, sore throat and stayed home. Did not get tested.

HE WENT TO WORK for 2 hours and went home.

On 20th. he was contacted by friends at Samut S. that they had covid.

On 21st. Wachira confirmed covid.

The timeline given is super long.
