"New lifestyle - Safe Driving - No accidents" - that's the New Year aim for Bangkok's roads!

Several officials spoke to the Thai media after a cabinet meeting to decide the course of action on the roads for the so-called deadly New Year period December 29th to January 4th 2021.

Praphas Leuangsirinapha of the Traffic and Transport Department said he was working to reduce accidents under the banner of "New Lifestyle - Safe Driving - No Accidents".

Everybody would have these noble concepts in mind.

Meanwhile Suksan Kittiphakorn of the Medical Services Department said he was working on reducing accidents in Bangkok with all the relevant authorities including hospitals.

In a Naew Na report notable for the extent of waffle contained within it, perhaps the only vital observation was the phone number to ring "if" things were to go wrong.

  • stop it, please, you're killin me!!

  • They should stop using the word "Accident"  Nearly every road crash, collision, road carnage, death by dangerous driving and many more titles, call it what you will,  can be traced to a reason for it

They should stop using the word "Accident"  Nearly every road crash, collision, road carnage, death by dangerous driving and many more titles, call it what you will,  can be traced to a reason for it happening e.g. didn't look, didn't see, can't drive a car or ride a bike, DUI, stoned or on the phone.

More people will die in 1 week on the road in Thailand than Covid in the entire pandemic

The Thai govt cannot control how people drive, but the very least they can do is to make sure vehicles on the road are safe.

What is the Thai equivalent of an MOT?

Did anyone vote for him as their favorite comedian?

Perhaps they should start with the police:

Commenced crossing the road at a marked pedestrian crossing, but had to pull back

as a cop on a motorbike come zooming up forcing me back to the footpath.

this is not the first time one of Bangkok's finest has done this. from

now on I'll prime my phone when crossing and send my pic to police HQ.

If Thailand goes into total lock-down soon, then this could possibly be achieved.

I think history shows it will take more than wishful thinking.

500 baht... it's passed.

Give the police a budget for mufti cop cars on the road, & tell them no fair or favour or you will be fired.

No more than one hour per shift sitting on your bum unless in the car on patrol

I tried to book him for my party next week but he is fully booked for the entire festive season.  Big demand for stand up comedians at the mo.

Oh boy i needed a new years laugh I just got it lol  This is better than going to a comedy show

Don't you mean in 1 Thailand day ??

hell will freeze over and pigs will fly before any of those happen

Overly negative Thai remark removed and response to it.

Slogans will not change anything.  Education, enforcing the law etc... will make changes but Thais will never understand this and ultimately don’t really care.

But, but...I thought they were aiming at less people being killed...and you are their first victim. Mind you you are not in the 29-04 window...so I guess it makes fine

Hmmm.... I suggest the roads are run by morons who live in a dream world
