Apparently we had a bit of trouble out the back of my house yesterday evening there is a villa being built and the workers are Burmese about 4 or 5 kids shouting abuse at the Burmese, I had gone out for a couple of hours at the moment I dont know the full details,

One thing I know, Them kids are not from out Soi so I dont know where they came from,

These Burmese are good workers they are clean and tidy and are certainly getting on with the job, also seem to be well organised

Turns out these kids were standing there shouting at the Burmese "Covid" "Covid" "Covid" still not sure where the kids where from, not from my soi, Who's teaching them that?

If to blame the illegal migrant workers then arrest and punish those who allowed them in at a high fee.

Ive  found the local  Thais to be anti everything and extremely  petty in the  village, always blame someone else even better if they arent  Thai, the latest is a  neighbour  complaining about me  blowing leaves  that come off his trees  back  over the road to his  land, they have nothing  good  to say about me at  all, fix  the road....Farang shouldnt be doing it  not his  job, put a concrete road up the hill, they complained it was  illegal, last week when their  land caught fire they asked if they could drive their fire  truck up my concrete road to  put it  out, been accused of everything under the  sun, must have  had half the Thai authorities out here  looking for suspect doings of  mine, theyve  never found anything wrong yet, asked  not to burn my crops so didnt yet they still burn theirs etc etc, its  just my  bad  attitude I  guess

Not your bad attitude, it's simply - you farang......

The 1st blame should be laid at China's door who suppressed news of their home-grown virus for two months.  Next came returning Thais (some illegally).  This story in BKK Post suggests Thai officials have taken bribe money to allow Burmese to enter Thailand.  These haters should get some perspective.

However, it was them who created the problem...

how long are those people already in Thailand ? months ?

always easier to find a scapegoat

Same thing happened in Myanmar too. They blamed Rohingya people for starting the infections in Rakhine State. Karma is on line.

How about some hate speech against those THAI fishing fleet, factory and sweatshop owners who ILLEGALLY import, entrap and enslave those migrants, treating them like subhumans and paying them wages that are too much to die and too little to live?

I don't doubt that the virus in Samut Sakhon probably was spread by illegal immigrants from Myanmar. But then again, they wouldn't have been there in the first place if it hadn't been for unscrupulous, greedy THAI business people who by hiring them broke a whole range of laws -- without having to fear much - if any - any punishment.

Why does a small country with a population of approximately 69.4 million people need to import foreign workers???

When you live in a nationalistic society rampant with xenophobia - what do you expect?  Who corrects the hate?

If you spewed the racial hate speech in say Germany or EU, you'd end up in jail.

You are right, yet none of our European Embassies will say anything and the European governments will not summon the Thai ambassadors for a chat. On the other hand make a (bad) joke about the Jews or a cartoon about the Turkish president and see what happens. Within 24 hours  you will have your answer.

In Australia a few years ago stand up comics were telling jokes about suicide bombers and Muslims going to paradise and getting virgins. They were ordered to immediately cease these jokes or face race vilification charges, fines and possible jail sentences.

These imported foreign workers are one rung higher than slaves. They are brought in from Burma, Lao, Cambodia, some from Vietnam, to do menial laboring jobs on building sites, factory work, cleaning jobs, pumping gas...all at lower rates of pay than a Thai would get. They also get fleeced by local Thai thugs, who come around on pay days and extort part of their meager salaries or they get done over.

I never hear Thai's complaining about losing work, I guess they are happy watching rice grow!

"Wherever you see Myanmar people, shoot them down," read one Thai comment on YouTube after a surge of coronavirus cases among workers from Myanmar.

Does the same go for Thais sneaking back from Myanmar?

Why aren't these hate speeches aimed at China........ China made this virus... Rather than an Atomic Bomb... But with the same motive... To weaken (and conquer) the world so they can take control.... Communism will not stop 'trying'....

We better start learning to speak Chinese.....

You forgot about the folks who work here and have families. But yea, they can be still sex addict and/or alcoholics as you say...

I bet that more than 90% of those that are active on TV never worked a single day legally in Thailand. Having a family, open companies, employing Thai people, building a house send your kids to school etc etc.  Yes after 30 years I can see no improvement at all, Immigration and other laws are changing all the time. Now with Covid things become even more difficult as almost the whole family lost their income. We manage but having fun and enjoying life is a little different.  Only a coward would leave everybody, wife, kids, staff behind behind.

and what has the constant whining and moaning in here managed to change yet?

It changed my attitude towards these moaners but on the other hand, telling the truth is not whining nor moaning.

I guess they don't complain about losing work they don't want to do, and for pay lower than the legal daily rates.

I constantly wonder why so many moanign farangs still contrinue to live in Thailand. They seemingly hate everything about the country.

I don't hate Thailand the country, but I hate the "government" with a vengeance, if Thailand was the same when I first came as it is now, I would never have stayed, but I have a loving wife and family, and so much more, I am not going to give it all up because of a bunch of military educated tinpot soldiers.

We were in the process of leaving when the pandemic hit. When life gets a little back to normal we’re moving to Portugal. We already have a home there that we’ve rented on Airbnb for years so it’s an easy transition, we know how things work there and speak a bit of the language.

We’ve had enough of pollution, xenophobia, bad driving, humidity, and ever changing immigration policy to last a few lifetimes.

Many people stay because they have hope. Hope that Thailand will evolve and become something better. Unfortunately, beyond the pretty malls and faster internet, there is no change for the better, just more traffic, more pollution, and more nonsense. Thailand is a third world country at heart and it will continue to be that way for many generations.

Of course, others stay because they are either a sex addict, alcoholic, or both. No one will ever tell you that you’ve had enough here and you can indulge every fantasy for less than $30. It’s the greatest place on earth of you want to screw or drunk yourself to death.

Then there are those who are stuck. They just can’t financially make it anywhere else and don’t hate options. Even Cambodia is getting expensive these days.

"Of course, others stay because they are either a sex addict, alcoholic, or both." and there are those who have strong family ties, and a nice home among other things, but are not sex addicts or alcoholics.
