Police to delay legal proceeding against illegal immigrants in Thailand

Thai Immigration Police will delay taking legal proceedings against illegal migrant workers who have been in Thailand for at least a year, or those whose residence permit expired recently, saying that such workers are important to the Thai economy. The police will, however, strengthen measures to prevent further illegal border crossings.

Immigration police commissioner, Pol Lt Gen Sompong Chingduang, said that the bureau has been working with the department of employment, canvassing Bangkok and its vicinity for illegal migrant workers. So far, they have identified over 60, 51 of whom entered Thailand illegally, nine have overstayed their visa, and at least one has failed to report to immigration for over 90 days, as is required.

The police will focus on COVID-19 screening process.

Only to be expected from such a compassionate sector of society...

with no connection whatsoever to the trafficking gangs

so there is hope for thousands of foreign teachers from around the world, who couldn't sort their work permits, because this do require leaving thailand

A severe vinyl shortage in all probability ????

''He asked the employers to bring the workers for screening''

It seems for some reasons these kind employers still prefer to disseminate their workers all over the country

i wonder what they are waiting to sue in court these employers and

heavily hit them with huges fines

With this type of individuals, it's all about the wallet, then you need to take their money

Their bad behaviour and greed cost already billions of baths to the country since few days

Is it a case of ''do you know who i am'' or what ?

Of course they are important to the economy, they do the menial jobs that Thai's are too lazy to do! Khun Daeng would rather lie in his hammock and drink Lao Khao all day!

If you announce that you're going enforce the laws selectively, or admit that the laws have always been enforced selectively, then you're saying that there has never been a rule of law, only a system of control and a means of assuring that things don't spin completely out of hand. But with a few exceptions like Australia, in the matter of illegal immigration that's been the case all around the world for a very long time. Lack of consistency means lack of respect for the law, which couldn't be greater here than it already is, from top to bottom. So everyone works to game the system, why not, it's all meaningless anyway.

Now here is a relevation. Illigal workers are important are they? Is this just the trafficked ones or does it include teachers without work permits.

don't you love thai people ?

they openly HATE anything not thai

but they love CHEAP SLAVE LABOUR !!!!

This sounds like it is designed to avoid awkward questions being asked and the truth coming out about who pays what to whom.....!!!

So they acknowledge that workers are here illegally and are able to find work?

I for one would like to see every illegal worker who is prosecuted in court to have their employer standing next the them on a trafficking charge!

It's a double edged sword.

It's  what we, in the BiB, call a 'force multiplier'

Looks like IS has successfully infiltrated the BiB.

PLEASE DO NOT UPSET THE STATUS QUO. If we have an enquiry names will come out and people in the immigration dept may be named. So we will stop all enquires now to give those poor unfortunates time to vanish.

Then there will be no illegals to question

of cause, because those poor guys have no money, imagine decision like this when they deal with farangs

Well, look at the history and how many came from China.  I think the earlier settlers were running away from there and got caught up in it at the end.
