BREAKING: Bars, pubs, entertainment ordered closed in Hua Hin

breaking news banner V2.png

Bars, pubs and karaoke have been ordered to close in Hua  Hin, in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The order specifically lists bars, pubs and entertainment venues, including cockfighting venues, does not mention any restrictions for shopping malls.

The order, issued by the governor of Prachuap Khiri Khan also states mask wearing is mandatory.

The order is effective from 31 Dec to 6 Jan.

This is a developing news story. This post may be updated without notice.

It has started, sure to be rolled out coming to a province near you just before New Years eve strikes.

Same in Chonburi and Pattaya. TBH ..I thought this clampdown was national. Fishing fighting and cockfighting venues were closed by municipal edict a couple of days ago.

makes a lot of sense. whilst i'll be gutted not to go out tomorrow night, hopefully it will stop a mass exodus of party goers from bangkok and pattaya arriving to what is so far a covid free province.

Traffic right now on my side of Bangkok is pretty much fairly empty roads.  The freeway I can see has few cars on it.  I believe the mass exodus was this morning as MRT was full of people with sacks and suitcases, and Rama 4 and the freeway was jammed.  But not now when it would normally be packed again with those returning home from work.  Looks like the provinces will be full. Stay Safe

different demographic. i was referring to the the usual mob of weekend bangkok arrivals (the condo owners and expats) not the sack carriers (lol!) heading upcountry ????????

What was issued by municipal edict was for Bangkok alone, even though they think they rule Thailand they don't, they can't issue national edicts. That's the definition of municipal.

Bangkok hasn't announced a lock down yet as far as I'm aware. Only a partial lock down, with restaurants and entertainment places allowed to operate.

A post using a trolling name for the coronavirus has been removed.

Watching it on TV ain't the same. No atmosphere. Same with Fish fighting also banned ..TV re runs ain't the same

Going all the way through visa application, the expensive quarantine just to find out to end up in a lockdown....lol

A nice way for the government to end nightlife and the not existent prostitution

So, They'll be no official lockdown, just nothing open !

Expect a curfew soon too.

Stop this nonsence now and lock down Bangkok before the super spreader festivities start today. Close everything for three weeks to give a survival chance to the most endangered folks living here. The young have the rest of their lives to live.

From what I've heard, within 2 weeks.  Get ready.

"From what I've heard..." What the heck do you mean? heard from where? from whom? Do you have a secret source? A special Homing Pigeon network? What good is it to spread idiotic rumors?

Super spreading is already under way. This  morning they put Nonthburi under control including shutting a few markets and locking down a small condo. Seems there was another surge since yesterday, now about 50 cases from one Nonthburi resident.

A very well connected source....seriously....

Great.  I was already jealous and unhappy that my friends can party in Hua Hin and that I have to watch TV in Pattaya. ????

Doesn't make a difference - nothing was open in that industry anyway!!! Great decision once again of the great universal leaders over there....????
