Anyone seen tinned smoked oysters anywhere? In Australia you can buy them in small tins like sardines, and they're cheap, but never seen them here.

Saw them in the Villa market once on Langsuan here in Bangkok, but that was awhile ago.  Just checked the website and there was no listing.  It has been awhile since I did see them last, just like the vienna sausages in the tins.

I've been looking for years and haven't found any in Pattaya.

I saw some advertised online but they seemed pretty pricey if I recall.

Best bet would probably be to get someone from home to buy a few tins, wrap them real good and post them to you.

I see iHerb, the same place I buy my vitamins, has them for less than 80 baht a tin, plus postage of course.

Just did a quick search. On "thailand.desertcart" they list the exact same thing - at 481 baht each !
On ubuy.co.th they sell them in 10 packs for 1,611 (161 baht each). They have a wide selection of smoked oysters but the cheapest single can is 430 baht (Reese's Medium Smoked Oysters). I see the same items (i.e. Large, medium and petite) being offered many times for different prices (and their "sort" function sucks)

Also on "thailand.desertcart" they have a 3 pack of Crown Prince brand for 814 baht, which works out to just over 270 baht per tin. (Same thing goes for 96 baht on that iHerb site).

But as I see that "iHerb" ships from the US, it could be a bit pricey getting it here. The problem may be, if you only order a couple tins, you pay through the nose for shipping but probably avoid Customs.
But if you order a larger amount, the shipping will be slightly higher (depending on how much more you order) but you risk getting flagged by Customs.

For example, I was ordering Crystal Light (sugar free) powdered drink mixes. I ordered 2 Variety packs (10 boxes of assorted flavours, 10 "sticks" in each box). I think the shipping was $18 US. If I'd ordered one pack, the shipping would have been $12.

The order was flagged by Customs and not to pay extra duties, but because some clerk decided that anyone ordering that much must be selling the stuff and they wanted to see a business license as well as other paperwork.
I went to Laem Chabang and tried to explain to the guy that I bought it for me, not for sale and I only ordered the stuff once or twice a year. I showed him how the shipping cost was much higher if I ordered smaller quantities more often.

He decided I should only order enough to last me 1 month at a time !
Like W.T.F. ?????? Instead of 1 or 2 orders a year I'm supposed to do 12 ?

(I ended up getting a friend that is in the export/import business to help me. Cost me about 2,000 baht.)

I was thinking that maybe someplace like Siamburis could be persuaded into stocking Smoked Oysters as whoever supplies them with their other canned goods probably also has Smoke Oysters. Just need to add them to the next order. Which they might do if they think there's a demand for them.

If you order a few items from iHerb the shipping is reasonable. For 3 tins of oysters plus some vitamins, fish oil, Magnesium, Vitamin B etc the shipping would be around 250 baht. Siamburis might be interested to stock them if they could turn them over, also depend what their mark-up would be whether they'd sell.
