Ubonjoe,

I have a Non "O" retirement visa for my stay here in Thailand that I will renew in August this year.  I want to bring my kids here to Thailand in April of this year for a long stay visit.  My kids are 13 and 14 and each child has a USA passport with an expiry date years from now.  I'm wondering if I can some how "piggy back" them on my retirement visa so they don't have to be on a tourist visit stamp but instead have the same long stay privileges I have with my retirement visa.  Mainly, I'm trying to avoid boarder runs and visit extension paperwork like that required for the tourist visit stamp.  Any advice?  Appreciate the help.

You children can apply for one year extensions for being members of you family. The will need non-o visas from a embassy to the application for the extension.

Their birth certificates will be needed for the application. Most offices will them to be legalized.

okay.  Thanks so much!!

They are in Malaysia now.  I'm in Thailand.  Can they start the non-O visa process at the Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur or do I have to be with them to get everything done?

It can be done there without you being there. They will need copies of your passport photo page and the page showing your most recent extension.

This page has info for getting the certificate of entry process started. https://kualalumpur.thaiembassy.org/en/page/99059-visa?menu=5d75510d15e39c1e60004883

You may need to contact the embassy about their visa application since I cannot find the category they will be applying for the non under. Info here: https://kualalumpur.thaiembassy.org/en/page/99126-contact-the-consular-section?menu=5d75510d15e39c1e60004880

What is the maximum age for your children to qualify as a dependent so that you can get the 1 year extension on the back of a retirement visa?....I didn't know the kids could do this, I always thought they needed their own (education) visa?
Very interested to know the answer!

Up to 20 years old is the age limit for children's to get the extension for being a family member.

It has been in the police and immigration orders for many years.
