Questions re renewal 1 year "retirement" visa

My retirement visa ends on 19 February.

 

For various reasons including Covid related I wish to go early to apply for renewal (based on 800k in bank) at CW:

 

i) what is the earliest date I am able to put in  renewal application? I read it is 30 days  or is it 45 days?

 

ii) what is the best day of the week to go? (to avoid crowds/covid)

 

iii) I understand I can make an appointment in advance on line: is that application useful?

 

iv) any other input.
