Thai stocks rise 1.5% to complete end-of-week surge

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) Index closed at 1,536.44 on Friday, up 22.66 points or 1.50 per cent. The volume of total transactions was Bt125.08 billion with an index high of 1,538.61 and a low of 1,521.17.

SUKOHARJO, Indonesia (Reuters) - Indonesian Islamic cleric Abu Bakar Bashir, the suspected mastermind of the 2002 Bali bombings that killed 202 people, walked free from prison on Friday after serving 10 years for setting up a militant training camp.

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin will announce new measures next week to curb a surge in coronavirus cases, a senior minister said on Friday, as the country reported its highest daily number of deaths linked to the epidemic.

Almost 700 asymptomatic patients admitted to field hospitals for observation

686 asymptomatic COVID-19-infected patients have been admitted to field hospitals in Thailand’s Red Zone provinces of Samut Sakhon, Rayong, Chon Buri and Chanthaburi for observation, said Dr. Veeravuth Imsamran, deputy director-general of the Medical Science Department, today (Friday).
