90 day report question

I am aware that I am supposed to make my first 90 day report "in person" BUT is that my first ever 90 day report or every first 90 day report on a new visa? Each time you have a new visa should the first 90 DR be done in person?

No..usually only your first report to get into the system.

Entering the country with a new visa resets the 90 day clock to zero when you enter the country.

Or are you incorrectly calling a extension of stay you apply for at immigration a visa. Only the first extension of stay requires you to do the online report in person.

Some additional info of relevance re this matter.

1 - Entering Thailand - be it with a new Visa, or on a Re-Entry Permit protected permission to stay of your original Visa - will reset the 90-day clock to zero. 

2 - A 90-day report is simply a confirmation that the address where you are 'officially' staying (official for Immigration purposes, as you can stay everywhere you like), has not changed. 

That 'official' address' has been (or should be) notified to your local Imm Office by filing a TM-30 report within 24 hours of a foreigner arriving at the premisses.  And you can only extend your Non Imm O or O-A Visa at the local IO where you are 'officially' registered.  It is also only at the local IO where you are officially registered, that you can file your 90-day report.

3 - Hence the need that when you relocate to a different address than your current 'official' one, that IO is notified by filing a TM-30 report of your change of address.  The filing of a TM-30 because of relocation needs to be done in person at your local IO.

4 - But even after having filed a TM-30 of the address you are staying, the very first 90-day report you are doing needs to be done in person at your local IO (they will check whether a TM-30 has been filed of you staying at the premisses).  And that very first one has to be done in person, as the local Imm Office will need a copy of the ID-page of your passport, as they need that document to check whether the passport-number you mention on subsequent on-line 90-day reports is correct.  

5 - When you re-enter Thailand on a NEW Visa, a new TM-30 has to be filed at your IO.  But it is moot whether you would also need to do a new 90-day report in person at your local IO, when you are simply returning to your previous address but on a new Visa.  When you would be staying at a new address in a different province, it definitely has to be done in person again at the local IO of that new province, as they would not have a copy of your passport ID-page.

You will need to do your first 90 day report in person 90 days from the day you entered the country.

Same like myself.

When I entered Thailand on my new Non Imm O-A Visa, I notified my local IO by filing a TM-30 on-line that I was staying in the house owned by my girlfriend (I registered her house on the IO TM-30 website on her behalf, and then filed the TM-30 report).

Then in the 90-day window for filing a 90-day report (in the 14 days before till 6 day after the 90-day due date) I visited my local Imm Office to do the 90-day report in person.  As expected, they asked about my TM-30 and I showed them the screenshot of me having done that. 

Since that first 90-day report I have been doing all my subsequent 90-day reports on-line.

The owner/landlord of the residence you stay in should have filed a TM30 already, if not, you'll need to file that first.

 

You will need to report in person as your IO won't have created a local file with your details yet.

As it's your first visit I'd take;

 

Complete form TM47.

Passport.

Copies of;

• Passport photo page
• O-A Visa
• Entry stamp
• TM6 (front and back)

Signed copies of owner/landlords Tabien Baan and ID card.

 

They'll create a local file of your details, then you should be able to file further 90 day reports online.

 

If borders open before the expiry date of your Visa, you can exit/re-enter just before the expiry date and stay for a 2nd year without the need for another Visa, or a 1 year extension.

I have done my TM30 already (did it when I re-entered as the householder). I am registered on the 90 day report app (have used it since 2018/19). Was previously on an Non Imm O but returned two months ago after a covid enforced sojourn in home country, returned on a new O-A. Should I use the app for the 90 day report or or in person?

I would suggest that you try the app in the first instance, and then, if you got nowhere with it, submit your report in person. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, as they say!

You'll probably find you get the message to report to your IO.

You will have missed a report whilst abroad (according to the  online system) and your first report since returning will not be in sync with the automated computer system.

I'd be very surprised if it did work, but as OJAS stated try it 14 days before your due date.

The day you re-entered is always counted as day 1 of the 90.
