Prince Ranariddh to return to politics next month

Prince Norodom Ranariddh has planned to lead the royalist Funcinpec next month following years of having been out of politics. Funcinpec spokesman Phan Sithy said during a press conference that Prince Ranariddh’s health has improved after having received a medical treatment in France.

 

“The Prince will return to lead [the party] directly, possibly after the party congress is scheduled to be held on February 27,” he said.

 

In August 2018, Prince Ranariddh hand-picked his oldest son, Prince Norodom Chakravuth, to take over the party in his absence for medical treatment in Thailand after a car crash that seriously injured him and killed his wife in June 2018.
