7 factories in Samut Sakhon sealed until end of February, no staff allowed to leave

The Public Health Emergency Operation Centre of Samut Sakhon has decided to seal off seven major factories, where many workers are infected with COVID-19, forbidding any worker to leave their factory compound until the end of February.

First doses of AstraZeneca vaccine to be administered a week after arrival in Thailand

Thai people will receive the first doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine within a week of the first 50,000 doses from Italy arriving in Thailand this month, although the date of arrival is still not specified, said Dr. Thawee Chotepittayasunont, an expert at the National Communicable Disease Committee, at a news briefing on Tuesday.

Rare giant vulture lays first egg in 25 years at Nakhon Ratchasima zoo

Officials at the zoo in Thailand’s northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima are excited that an endangered giant vulture at the zoo has laid the first viable egg in the country for 25 years. They are hoping that it will be fertile and hatch into a vulture chick.

The Red Cross is appealing for plasma donations from fully recovered COVID-19 patients, because it may contain the antibodies which can help others infected by the virus.

Robber snatches almost Bt1 million in necklaces from Koh Samui gold shop

An unarmed thief darted into a gold shop at Tesco Lotus in Koh Samui, grabbed 19 necklaces worth nearly Bt1 million from a display rack and swiftly disappeared through the department store’s rear exit. There was no report of any injuries.
