Hi,

I'm coming to Thailand, starting Thursday - for 10 days. Coming into Bangkok, and then plan on heading to a beach. I'm looking at weather forecasts, and it seems like the entire country has the same forecast of scattered thunderstorms for the next 10 days.

My question is - when you see 'scattered thunderstorms' in the forecast - do you keep away from the beach? Is it the kind where it downpours for 15 minutes, and then it's sunny again? or is it overcast with storms all day? Anyone near a beach now - esp Phuket, that can tell me what it's actually like? (forecast was the for scattered t-storms everywhere today as well)

Greatly appreciate any help

Interesting site, Steve. For a good weather forecast, I usually use Wunderground. Here's the LINK for Thailand's weather.

You can personalise it to use either metric (Celcuis) or English (Fahrenheit) temperatures.

http://www.windguru.cz/int/index.php?sc=30397 is a good detailed forcast including rain and cloud cover by time of day and in astonishingly accurate.

anyhow, rain usually only lasts an hour or so, no need to cancell a trip to the beach.

Thanks for the reply. That website does carry a ton of info.

Unfortunately, the forecasts don't look that great. Any opinions out there for alternatives if it's raining a lot? Itinerary is pretty wide open

sorry, I mistitled this thread.

I already looked up a number of forecasts for thailand. problem is that I didn't like what I was finding, and was wondering what it's actually like down there.

is anyone in pattaya, phuket, koh samui or any other beach area? if so, what is today's weather like?? is it raining and cloudy? or is it like you mentioned it typically being - rain for an hour and then clear? do you see blue skies?

I just got a call from my missus, near Sattahip. She said it's sunny and hot.

I'm working in Laem Chabang, about 30km's to the north (as the crow flies) and it's overcast and may rain any moment.

Over the past week, these storms have been very localised, and usually only last an hour or so.

Another good resource for current and forecast conditions is the TMD website.
