Do I Have To Pay Back Tax?

Featured Replies

I've had a work permit for the last 3 years (with the exception of 1 month while changing companies) keeping up the validity by getting 12 month multiple entry non-B's from KL.

I've asked the company that I work for if it would be possible to get the 12 month extension to the current visa I have and thus update the work permit accordingly etc...etc....etc.

My company have told me yes, but as I have to be earning 50000 Baht to get the extension I have to pay the last 12 months back tax (20000 Baht) before this can be done as my monthly wage was less than 50000. This is not something that I've heard form anyone else who has tried to do this.

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

This is one of the criteria to get the extension of stay... 50K salary for your nationality. Have your MD write a letter in Thai, stating that you were getting a lower salary before and this is why you were doing 90 day visa runs with a work permit. Now that you qualify with the criteria of 50K per month, you now would like to apply for the extension of stay. With this method, our clients have not had to pay back tax for last year to qualify.
