Featured Replies

In terms of business and law, Cambodian women rank better than some nations in Asean, according to a new World Bank report on “Women, Business and the Law 2021” released yesterday. The report said Cambodian women rank above average with a total score of 75 points, better than Indonesia at 64.4, Myanmar at 58.8, Brunei at 53.1 and Malaysia at 50, but lower than Thailand at 78.1, the Philippines at 78.8, Vietnam at 81.9, Singapore at 82.5 and Laos at 88.1 points.

This indicator captures legal differences between men and women in eight areas, including mobility, workplace, pay, marriage, parenthood, entrepreneurship, assets and pension. Among those eight areas, Cambodian women have done well in four areas, including mobility, workplace, entrepreneurship and assets with a full score of 100 points.

The lowest area is parenthood with only 20 points, pension with 25 points, pay with 75 points and marriage with 80 points. Cambodia is one of the 190 countries scored in the report, covering the period from September 2019-October 2020, it added.
