Now the 20,000 people trying to get back, each spending 2000 is 40M...more like it.
internationalism
it's more a habit than necessity to travel far away on long weekends. do organise your work and holidays in such way, that you can travel sunday to friday. Those 5 days don't have to be often, but are relaxing and cheep, comparing to congested roads and full hotels. it's plain risky to stay at full hotel
Popular Post Surelynot
I will never understand any nation that allows everyone to takes the same day/weekend for a holiday....I guess it is down to religion in many cases.....but bank holidays in the UK?....insane....give everyone the equivalent extra days and spread them out. No way on God's Earth would I travel on a public holiday....mental 6

Sounds like those who were complaining were part of the problem. If they wanted to be part of the solution, they could have stayed home.
Pmbkk
It happened to us - even though I added a couple of days onto our holiday post official holiday ( the govt added a late one day hol' to the official one - seems to be a govt game to keep people on their toes ) Was there well before the first ferry - 1+ plus min, but still didn't make it. When we got on there was a massive queue. When I go to Koh Chang now I always make sure there are no hols !!! BTW - Colin(ZMF) if you're still there drop me a line ????
geisha
The roads on Koh Chang are definitely not made for 5000 vehicles.

And domestic tourism is not injecting a dime into the economy, it's simply moving it around from other places where they may have spent it. What is needed is to allow an influx of tourists from abroad, but only if they are carrying a briefcase full of money ????
