BANGKOK (TNA) - Two more producers of COVID-19 vaccine are applying for vaccine registration with the Food and Drug Administration.

FDA secretary-general Dr Paisarn Dunkum said Johnson & Johnson already filed its application and experts were considering it. The result would be known in either late this month or early next month.

Meanwhile, Moderna informed the FDA that it would file its application in mid-March, he said.

So, they'll maybe approve in March and then place the orders for receipt in 2024

They considered it but decided they'll stick with the Chinese coz, Anutin said so. Whats good enough for him is good enough for all Thai's

J&J. That is what I want. One shot and no more worries. Easy to ship, store, and distribute. Apparently, effective against existing variants.

it would be for private hospitals, small quantities, max 50-60k per hospital chain, including their branches in provinces.

good enough for medical staff and for some of the regular patients, but short to offer to the general public.

Chance for foreigners, because thai are not likely to pay 6-10k per person. Maybe the breadwinners in the family can afford it, but not for everybody

They got plenty of time. Thailand won't start vaccinating the majority before we're in the middle of wave 32 next decade.

I think same-same! better wait for the real deal of J&J!

only 2 questions left:

how much it is going to cost for farang?

when will it be available?

This seems like good news, so why am I skeptical? Local "interests" favor the AZ vaccination.

Am hoping local private hospitals are lobbying hard for this so maybe it has a chance?

And Merck is going to help produce it. https://www.merck.com/news/merck-to-help-produce-johnson-barda-to-provide-merck-with-funding-to-expand-mercks-manufacturing-capacity-for-covid-19-vaccines-and-medicines/

Am still hoping for 6,500 - 10,000 all in (if 2x, plus all fees).

Am still hoping for Q4, 2021.

The biggest plus for zJ&J is that it is not the mRNA type..but only 66+% effective. Similar to flu shots.

Well, if the two companys are applying for registration, then what possible reasons could the government have for denying them?

But only, it's actually higher than that.

All a matter of how much you pay.
