Maid Receives 235-Year Sentence for Massive Gold Thefts in Thailand
File photo for reference only. Source: Wikipedia In a stunning case of serial theft, a maid has been sentenced to 235 years in prison for pilfering gold ornaments valued at approximately 25 million baht from her employer's shop in Khon Kaen's Ban Pai district. The audacious crimes transpired over two years, shaking the small community. The shop owner recounted the initial suspicion that sparked the investigation. Two months ago, a gold necklace conspicuously slipped from the maid's apron pocket, prompting immediate concern. The maid, identified as Somjit Khumduang, initially dismissed the incident as accidental, claiming the necklace may have fallen into her pocket. However, her employer's unease led to a thorough review of security footage. Examinations revealed a jaw-dropping 47 instances of theft since 2021, exposing a pattern of deceit that left the shop owner reeling. The accumulated value of the stolen gold jewellery was an eye-watering 25 million baht, a figure that underscored the severity of the crimes committed. Further investigations unveiled a trail of lavish purchases by Ms Somjit, who had been employed at the shop for around 10 years. Her newfound wealth financed land acquisitions, as well as a conspicuous display of luxury on her social media, where she flaunted a new motorcycle and jewellery. Despite repeated pleas from her employer to return the stolen valuables, only a fraction - roughly 7 million baht worth - was ever recovered. The hefty prison sentence reflects the scale and brazenness of her thefts, bringing a dramatic end to the trust once placed in a long-term member of staff. The case sends a strong message about the consequences of betrayal and dishonesty, transcending national boundaries and engaging international interest. -- 2024-11-08 -

Trump Declares “No Price Tag” on Mass Deportation Plan in NBC Interview
In an exclusive interview with NBC News, President-elect Donald Trump outlined his plan for one of the largest mass deportations in U.S. history, which he said is a necessary step to fortify the country’s borders. He reiterated his campaign pledge to build a “strong and powerful” border as one of his administration's first priorities. Responding to questions about his commitment to mass deportations, Trump emphasized that his administration would have “no choice” but to implement the plan. Trump described his electoral victory over Vice President Kamala Harris as a mandate for what he called "common sense" policies. “We obviously have to make the border strong and powerful, and we have to — at the same time, we want people to come into our country,” he said. “And you know, I’m not somebody that says, ‘No, you can’t come in.’ We want people to come in.” During his campaign, Trump promised to lead the “largest deportation effort in American history.” When asked about the potential cost, he responded, “It’s not a question of a price tag. It’s not — really, we have no choice. When people have killed and murdered, when drug lords have destroyed countries, and now they’re going to go back to those countries because they’re not staying here. There is no price tag.” Details on how the administration plans to execute such an expansive deportation are still unclear. Acting ICE Director Patrick J. Lechleitner previously acknowledged in July that a mass deportation effort would present significant logistical and financial challenges. Former Trump administration officials involved in immigration policy indicated that such an initiative would necessitate cooperation across multiple federal agencies, including the Justice Department and the Pentagon, due to its scale. Despite his hardline stance on immigration, Trump’s message on border security seems to have resonated with various voter demographics. He notably garnered support among Latino voters, despite the Democrats’ attempts to highlight his rhetoric on immigration issues and a pro-Trump comedian's controversial joke about Puerto Rico. Explaining his appeal, Trump said, “They want to have borders, and they like people coming in, but they have to come in with love for the country. They have to come in legally.” Trump also emphasized the wide coalition of voters that backed him, citing increased support among young voters, women, Asian Americans, and Latino voters compared to the 2020 election. “I started to see realignment could happen because the Democrats are not in line with the thinking of the country,” he said. “You can’t have defund the police, these kinds of things. They don’t want to give up and they don’t work, and the people understand that.” Reflecting on his recent phone calls with Vice President Harris and President Joe Biden following the election, Trump spoke about moving forward with a focus on his administration’s key promises, including his immigration policies. Poll -- Will president elect Trump last through his term?
I see about half the people in the poll here (the actual topic) think Trump will make it through the term. He might of course. I think his health is obviously poor but he is already delegating almost all the work save the Dictator King pomp and circumstance fun part to his crew of sycophants and corrupt anti democracy oligarchs. It's documented that he doesn't actually like the word of the presidency and that will become much more pronounced this time. -

Trump Declares Victory and Promises a "Golden Age" for America
Trump certainly did. Listening to the fake news, you merely didn't hear them. They're in the Republican Party platform, and Trump referenced them throughout his speeches and interviews. No, that was only one of his messages. Wrong as usual. They very much campaigned on politics of division, Obama shaming black men, for example. Slicing and dicing the public into various groups anmodus operandid pandering to them has been the Dems' Marxist for quite a long time. You just clueless, man. No hindrance to posing here, of course. A proud advantage, rather. 😉 -

Poll -- Will president elect Trump last through his term?
If calling Trump a fascist is good enough for General Kelly, it's good enough for me. So it follows that the personality cult political movement centered around basically worship of Trump, MAGA, can fairly be called maga fascists. But I acknowledge it might be better to switch to authoritarian or autocratic for the sake of not over triggering the Magadonians. I'll consider it. They could still argue that the maga movement is not autocratic, but that would be a very stupid position to try to defend.
