Just got ED Visa extension for one year. I want to keep living here but I don't like the university

Featured Replies

Will someone revoke my Visa if I stop going to classes next semester? (AKA Will I be living here illegally?)

What are my options? Thank you.

American, 34/yo

You one year extension of stay (it is not a visa) ends when you stop attending school that it is based upon.

If the university was to report your non attendance to immigration it could cause you problems.

If you found another university to attend you could have the extension canceled and have another one issued for attending the new university.

Just a suggestion. If you actually wish to study then state that. BTW you would perhaps get more advice in forums dealing with universities etc.

If you want option that does not require you attend classes then be clear.

Sounds negative but your OP sounded slightly like the latter

You could just study something else. Thai boxing, Thai language, cooking ...

and for those specific kinds of studies you could visit a small scale school.

Back when I studied, I went to Walen language school in Pattaya. Was 8 hours a week spread over 4 days IIRC.

You’d have plenty of free time and if you stay in Thailand it can be useful to know some Thai anyways.
