BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s armed forces are now working to support healthcare workers in the fight against COVID-19, with the Ministry of Defence ordering armed forces to set up field hospitals to accommodate more patients. Today, the Royal Thai Air Force opened a 120-bed field hospital, to which hospitalized patients showing a good rate of recovery will be transferred.

The Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) today opened the field hospital located in Don Muang district of Bangkok, by converting facilities at the physical training and evaluation center of the RTAF-owned Chanthubeksa Stadium to accommodate up to 120 patients.

The field hospital is now officially open after an opening ceremony presided over by the RTAF Commander-in-Chief ACM Airbull Suttiwan.

The field hospital can accommodate 70 male patients and 50 female patients in two separate wards on separate floors.

This well-ventilated facility has doctors on site 24 hours a day, with robots developed by Navaminda Kasatriyadhiraj Royal Air Force Academy used to deliver food, medication, and clothes to the patients, in an effort to minimize the risk of transmission.

Patients can be transferred from the Air Force’s Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital nearby after being admitted there for 3-5 days in a stable condition. The field hospital only accepts patients who can take care of themselves, who are aged 19-59 years.

Patients transferred here will be treated until fully recovered. In case of an emergency, patients could be transferred Bhumibol Adulyadej Hospital‘s emergency room in around 5 minutes.

All for show.  The worst possible concept to store the sick. I cannot  believe a responsible health professional would agree to placing people with highly contagious respiratory illness in such close proximity of each other.  These people are all infectious and they are now put in a position to deliver mega doses of the contagion. Even vaccinated people would be at risk of infection because they would be exposed to super dose of virus.

The trend at hospital now is to individual rooms for patients to stop spread of infection and  opportunistic infections like gastro bugs, c. difficile,  Here, they do not even set up as a  blocked out sealed ward of 10 people. It's just shove them all in room and hope for the best.
