Don’t look now, but western currencies sinking, as the mighty Baht keeps rising.  Perhaps all this vaccine talk is just a smokescreen...

There were some technical reasons as to why the baht was going down until now.

Many foreign companies were repatriating money from dividends earned on investments in Thailand, and paid in March/April.

From now on, the baht could we'll go back to where it was a few months ago...

There will be hardly any tourism this year, domestic or international, all my Thai friends have said they are going no where because of the worry over their jobs and the risk of getting infected.

They are all sacred as hell.

The US has just stopped inbound travel from India.  Also a big factor for the world is the fact that India produces 70% of all vaccines for the world.  That will definitely stop countries from meeting the vaccination projections as well.

I think the flights delivering vaccines will not suffer from these bans .

“We expect the fundamental impact to be limited since Thai tourism is now tied to the domestic market,” the analyst noted

So, this is why TAT is working from home. They do not want to show their big lying faces to the people of

Thailand  or to the expats and others.  The truth is out.  No tourism for Thailand until 2022, at the earliest.

Forget the million or so promise of tourists, when you include the 14 day quarantine. Maybe a few hundred

thousand, determined travelers would be the expected numbers.   Thailand, it is time to join the rest of the

world and get your population vaccinated as fast as possible. Give the people some choices of vaccines as well.

Let the private hospitals get in Pfizer and Moderna for those who want to pay for it and receive the shot.

     Good luck to all.

Geezer

So those 6 million Brits that was suggested will come this year will now be numbered at 6 or up to 5 million depending who in the TAT or government you talk too.

I am a big believer in optimism but be real and not talking utter rubbish, which this lot have done for over a year now on tourism.

Well at least it's keeping the analysts in a job predicting common sense outcomes of the current situation.
