Viral Interest in moving out of Thailand sparks debate and some backlash

Will Thais moving overseas be privileged enough to have 90 day reporting, chunks of the local currency in the bank, and prove it on a regular basis, only be able to (sort of) confirm their place in their new society for a year at a time, etc etc etc?

How about some nice dual pricing to greet them on arrival?

????????????????

Obviously you have not tried getting Thais a Schengen visa, or Australian or NZvisa for more than a brief holiday. I have.

Thailand is on the list 'flagged' as likely to overstay and cause problems for those and many other places. Hence virtually impossible to get long-stay visas except for university, which is prohibitively expensive for many Thai kids and even then they have to return on completion.

No idea what you're doing but I've been to Germany once with a Thai girl on a Schengen visa (during the pandemic even) and Australia about 30 times with many different Thai girls. Visa approved every time - Australia even grants multiple entry visas every time without requesting it.

Those thais does not hate Thailand. My guess is they all love Thailand, but maybe hate the current government. Any democratic programmed person must feel uncomfortable with the junta government of Prayut.

I have a different theory: Toblerone's triangular shape emulates the sudden blood sugar spike a consumer will experience after having ingested a couple of pieces.

But I could be wrong. It might well be in the shape of a Hollaredulliöööhhhh Alpengipfel. Matterhorn, perhaps?

I haven't been to the Move Away website, but I have been thinking about moving away for a while. This absurd racism really is a pain. A faring is just as easily as a Thai to contract the virus and pass it on. The number of unvaccinated people will determine the success or otherwise of the program (among other things). Leaving farangs unvaccinated seems a really stupid thing to do if you wish to revive the tourist industry.

But this racist program is not the only thing. The absurd changing of immigration rules every five minutes (hyperbole) doesn't happen in first or second world countries. This dual pricing and the like who in their right mind allows this in hospitals???? The recent medical insurance requirements (thankfully I am an O visa so don't need the overpriced junk yet) will soon be extended to include all expats and the oldest among us will not be able to obtain insurance at any price.

Personally I want some positive signals that I will be welcome to spend my remaining days in Thailand rather than find I get booted out when I am 88 and have cancer.

Dream and reality?

Wanting a better life does not mean an individual  hates their homeland.

What assistance do Thai's receive from the authorities?

Last year, if lucky,  5,000 thb p/m benefit  for 3 months!!!

Covid is limiting peoples freedom of movement so departing Thailand is a non starter for most people except the hi-so or Red Bull company family members.

The day may come when permission to visit another town will be required by LAW let alone leave a country.

Is it not possible to love your country and be proud of your birthright while rejecting the leadership and policies of the government of that country?

I love the way governments equate obedience to them as proof of patriotism.  Being unable to accept any criticism demonstrates how weak and insecure they really are .... actually looking to use the law to enforce it.  Censorship at its finest.

There are actually people out there who would willingly hand over control of content in social media to the government.

With countless posts asking for and sharing tips on life overseas on the “Let’s Move, Let’s Move Our Hips,” group, originally named “Let’s Move Abroad”, those expressing interest in moving out have been branded “country haters” by the government and its supporters, with their motives being questioned.

The Thai government fall flat in its failure to address and solve the Covid issues.
A large block of citizens look for an alternative.
The Thai government wages a campaign of hate against those looking for alternatives by branding them "country haters."

Pattaya ?

No need to start a Facebook page to discredit the government. They are doing a really good job themselves the utter shambles they are making of the Chinese virus situation.I always said they were very lucky last time . Nothing to do with the way they handled it
