The chief of the Thai Restaurant Association has urged the Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-o-cha to provide more help for the sector.

Restaurants in Thailand have been forced to close early and only provide take away service in many areas as the third wave of the pandemic has devastated the economy and dining in particular.

Daily News said that association chief Thaniwan Kunmongkhol had sent a letter to the PM.

They want help to cover 50% of rents, one year tax breaks and six month lower rates on utilities like water and electricity.

In addition they are urging state authorities to buy from them to feed ready meals to medical personnel and adopt measures to buy ready meals for those members of the public suffering particular hardship from loss of earnings due to unemployment caused by the pandemic.

But she needs to get a grip.

Every bar is closed how are they managing ? No use bleating about reality.

Our Soi has 4 hotels totalling over 1,000 rooms closed, It is tough, why does she think the restaurants are special ?

Yes, open the restaurants and bars.  Allow alcohol to be served and restrict hours and # of people in places.  Let the police go around and check that the rules are being followed.  What else are the police doing these days (outside of BKK where they are still stalking bribes)?  Don't allow the police to say "it isn't our job" like they do with motorcycles on sidewalks.

Set up rules ... first time offense is a fine, second time close the establishment for 5-7 days, ...
