webfact
Picture: Naew Na Thailand's chief of police Gen Suwat "Big Pat" Chaengyodsuk has reacted to demands from PM Prayuth Chan-ocha regarding implementation of the emergency decree in nine areas. Suwat has ordered that gambling is to stop as it is one of the main reasons for the spread of Covid-19. He noted that it was still going on in some places despite previous crackdowns. He warned his men from the lowest ranks to the highest that they will face disciplinary trouble if they allow illegal casinos to operate in their jurisdictions. He also called for a step up in the prevention of the movement of illegal immigrants across Thai borders. Naew Na reported that 101 illegal migrants from Myanmar - 49 men and 52 women - had been deported from Chiang Rai in the north back to their home country with the help of authorities across the border. -- © Copyright Thai Visa News 2021-05-18 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow Thaivisa on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates 1

I expect that police will need paid more soon, which will probably mean local clubs will have to make cutbacks. I hope it is not the neck massage pretties. They had a false sense of security as they had allowed Farang New Year travel and they didn't have any large increase in infections. Allowing it to go ahead breathed life into many businesses that were on their last legs. Unfortunately the highly contagious UK strain got in to Thailand and is now making up 98% of new infections and spreading like wildfire. Their big mistake was to underestimate the severity of the B117 strain.
