BANGKOK (NNT) - The Minister of Public Health, said today that major COVID-19 clusters in Thailand, mostly in construction workers’ camps, prisons, and slums are back under control. Health authorities will be giving AstraZeneca vaccine to low-risk people, as the vaccine is known to help boost immunity and reduce the transmissibility of the virus.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health Anutin Charnvirakul has discussed the government’s progress in containing COVID-19 transmission, especially in major clusters, saying that the situation is under control.

Large clusters of people infected with COVID-19 have recently been reported linked to densely populated communities in Bangkok, construction workers’ camps, and most prominently at correctional facilities across the country.

Mr Anutin said the health system is still capable of treating patients from these clusters, despite the overwhelming number, while uninfected villagers and inmates at these locations will urgently be given COVID-19 jabs.

He said AstraZeneca vaccine will be used on this mission, to help boost a person’s immunity and reduce the virus’ transmissibility.

Meanwhile, the country’s mass vaccination program will be commencing next month starting with people 60 years or older, and patients with chronic illnesses.

Most hospitals and third party venues offering the jabs will require the recipients to book an appointment in advance, which can be done on Mohprompt LINE chatbot or a standalone mobile app, via a local village health volunteer, or directly with a hospital.

Mr Anutin said advance appointments will give the Department of Disease Control a target for vaccine distribution. Companies and other organizations can also request a vaccination service for their employees, by sending an official request to the department.

Some vaccination venues will be offering services to people without appointments. Under this arrangement, Mr Anutin said walk-ins will be waitlisted to receive the jabs if persons with an appointment fail to show up, in order to ensure the vaccine does not go to waste.

Yes but no one has told him yet that "Knacker lacquer adds lustre to your cluster"

The only lack of confidence I have ever seen this minister express is in the hygiene standards of foreigners.

He's been saying it's under control for 16 months

Yeah but it's cheap and available... efficacy doesn't even figure.

As much control as he has over his own mouth=0.

We shouldn't just judge ANUTIN on his performance and competence he is a perfect fit along side all his government colleagues all hand picked by the general commanding everything except respect and the country.

He looks like he's singing a song in that picture. Perhaps he's thinking of changing career!

There's an irony there. A health minister relying on superstition.

He must be following in the path of our frog-kissing illustrious leader.

Ufff, finally.

Will go out for a big walk today. Feeling much more secure and relieved now.

And why does he always wear medical shirts?

He should rather wear a builders overall.

I'm a little confused, 5 months ?

Anutin was the first to receive the jab on 28 February 2021, so that's 3 months, where do they get 5 months from, could this be more Anutin horse manure ?

We know how they love their uniforms, it gives them an ' aura ' of power and superiority.

Spokeman for CCSA saying clusters NOT under control. People warned to be extra careful. Health Minister does't know what CCSA is saying. What a complete and utterly brainless, incompetent moron this guy is. Definetly PM material with these attributes.

Imagine he was the "Minister of Space affairs" or "Minister of the Special Forces".

He would walk like this to his Government meetings.

'Health Minister does't know what CCSA is saying'

Heresy, pure heresy.

He's just got his mouth set on 'random' at the moment.

{snipped}.

Perhaps a more impossible mission for Big Nut:

Minister of Spatial Awareness, with special duty to encourage car drivers to observe their surroundings.
