Deputy government spokeswoman Traisuree Trasarankul said on Facebook that the Moderna vaccine has been approved in Thailand according to deputy director of the GPO Sirikul Metheeweerangsan.

 

An agreement between the Government Pharmaceutical Organisation (GPO) and the The Private Hospital Association will see this vaccine added to the armoury against the Covid-19 virus. 

 

It is hoped that 5 million doses will be available.

 

Previous reports suggested that private hospitals would be prepared to give clients two doses for about 3-3,500 baht. 

 

Traisuree said there was no cover up - Thailand wanted lots of different vaccines to choose from, reported Thai Rath.

that would be sometimes in the 4th quater, so just after the 3rd wave has finished (sometimes around september).

"no cover up" gives her up. Her boss, covid czar, wants astrazeneca and sinovac - those are filling up secret swiss bank accounts.

there is no progress at all at sputnik front, ended up on shaking hands and Anutin's photo opportunity for mass media.

an indian vax was even never mentioned. 

and there are some 5 more chinese vax, which migh be better than sinovac, which is partly owned by the thai CP conglomerate, which supports Prayuth financially

Really?! A very proactive statement, to a doubting public. And given the past months chucklehuckery, much needed. Still, its a 50/50 bet.

Hoped for being the operative words, and not 5 million doses of Moderna vaccine set for private hospitals will be available.  Big difference.  This is the same type of issue with Prayut stating 5 million sinovac, 10 million sinovac 6 million AZ available.  How much is actually here, when did it arrive.  Achieving this feat of obtaining vaccines is so much harder then obtaining your 3 submarines costing many billion baht........

Sadly, I see this as an embarrassing display of incompetence and dishonesty.

5 million doses means only 2.5 million people might be vaccinated with Moderna vaccine. 2.5  in population of 70 million. Is this an indication of the mid to low hiso numbers of the country? I expect that super hiso will have already made arrangements to access Pfizer or Moderna  product in EU or USA.  Meanwhile,  the people of Thailand are becoming ill and dying.

Great parsing of a very complicated situation dating back months.

 

Did the "government" know about the "import" rules? Evidently not.

 

So its down to incompetence and malfeasance. Awesome. Thank goodness it wasn't a cover-up.

 

 

All that said, never, ever say "there was no cover-up", in any context.

 

 

In the US where Pfizer/Moderna mRNA vaccines were used the rates of new infections are plummeting.

 

In the Seychelles where most vaccinations were with one of the Chinese vaccines the infection rate exploded when the country opened up to tourism.

 

The writing is on the wall but it seems that those in power are illiterate.  As far as I can tell so is the Thai news media.

My doc told me 10 days ago that he was due to have Moderna vaccine to dispense in June/July in Sisaket. He said that I was at the top of his list

There seem to be a lot of "news releases" on vaccines that will be available.  Sounds a lot like "the check is in the mail" to me.  How about a post with a confirmed order or better yet a confirmed delivery.

What does this actually mean??? Who knows.  I have emailed CM Ram for days and the only I got directly was "we do not know" and use the "MorePrompt".  app.  Absolutely nothing about registration or how a priority list will be created.  Of course no mention of the most important thing: How much?  

 

This vaccination program in LOS goes above and beyond the boundaries of mixed messaging.
