Jeffr2
Sadly, we'll see more variants crop up. Especially since a majority of the world are not vaccinated. It's going to be a tough few years ahead of us.
simonphuket
Actually it's not really dubbed C.36.3 ???? Internationally it is called something different...
Joe Farang
Cases are on the rise again in the UK. It seems that Astra Zeneca is not very effective unless the 2nd dose has been received.

Yes, why not just say it what it is? Every other strain mentioned on this forum carries a country origin.

Every other strain mentioned on this forum carries a country origin. ... except the China version. Actually the strain never entered Thailand. It was detected on Jan 31, 2021 at Suvarnbhumi airport in a passenger from Egypt. Hence it should be the Suvarnbhumi strain. It was classified as C.36 and uploaded to the international GISAID Covid database. C.36 has circulated in Egypt for more than a year. The British recently noted about 100 cases of this Suvarnbhumi variant 6 and decided to call it C.36.3. since C.36.2 is taken. Here is the Thai record from GISAID: Collection date: 2021-01-31 Location: Asia / Thailand Pango Lineage: C.36 (version: 2021-05-27) Additional location information: Travel history from Egypt and detected upon arrival at Port Health Bangkok Suvarnbhumi Airport Gender: Male Patient age
