An Australian national has been arrested after allegedly breaking into a convenience store in Pattaya early this morning (June 7th).

The Pattaya City Patrol Police was notified of the incident at 3:00 A.M. at the Tops Daily convenience Wongamat branch on Pattaya – Naklua Road. The store was closed from 11:00 P.M. to 4:00 A.M. due to current Chonburi Disease Control orders closing stores overnight that are normally open 24 hours a day.

Police and The Pattaya News reporters arrived at the store to find that the front door appeared to have been forcefully broken.

Why are some members having a go at the mans nationality? A thief is a thief no matter what country he is from. Every country has the same problems, so his nationality is irrelevant.

I would have thought lesson 1.1 of getting away with burglary unseen would be don't use the front door !

Or better, when spotted and shouted at, don't run inside the premises?

Apparently, he's Austrian not Australian, according to the comments on the original article. I would guess he was after alcohol, and probably blind drunk already; would explain why he'd do something so stupid.

Valid point, but Thailand being a place where people from all over the world can be found, it has been a practice of the local media to attach the nationality to anyone who's not a Thai, why? good question...

On a hunt for a "Tinny"... and in the hours of darkness, he'll suffer more for that.

The biggest idiot criminals do these things......breaking and entering, stealing like 100 baht worth of stuff, get 20-years, life over, everything over.....

The "smart" ones sell crypto, dating services, more online scams, ponzi schemes.....whatever.

if you are going to ruin your life, try a "white collar" crime that doesn't physically hurt anyone.

I stole 10 million bitcoins from North Korea.

or maybe try being a treasure hunter........

gotta be something better than this.

...unless he's a Brit, a yank or an Aussie.

Looks like he is not Australian after all, he is Austrian and probably that is not the country he originated from.

Seems like he's a bit of a prawn himself

He had the foresight to wear gloves, and a head covering, so he probably wasn't drunk.  It seems as though he is a dolt who thought "How would Skippy the Bush Kangaroo crack this store?"

Thanks Colin

Any time I see one of these crime reports involving a Nigerian or Australian, I can't help but wonder why they keep letting them in.
