Mother Nature founder Alejandro Gonzalez Davidson and accomplices indicted for ‘insulting the King’

On June 20, 2021, the Prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court announced the decision to charge Spanish environmentalist Alejandro Gonzalez Davidson, the founder of Mother Nature, and three other organisation members, for ‘insulting the King’ and ‘conspiracy’.

 

Deputy Prosecutor Seng Heang said he had decided to charge Mr Gonzalez Davidson and his three fellow activists under Articles 437 (duplicate) and Article 453 of the Penal Code. Cambodian Penal Code 2009. Officials at Phnom Penh Municipal Court say that the insult to the King was an intolerable immoral act by foreigner, against The King who is the highest deity of the Cambodian people.

 

On June 16, 2021, the police arrested three Mother Nature Movement activists: Sun Ratha, female – accountant, Ly Chan Daravuth, male – Researcher and Yim Leang Hee, male – activist coordination role.

Mother nature has given him a great mouth to speak in a country that have a  very.. very..clear laws and rules

Lucky for Alejandro that he was deported and banned from Cambodia about 4 years ago.  Not so lucky for the others working there.

Sad.
