Employees caught with 97 million baht in goods after 240 million in phone cards go missing

Naew Na reported on a huge case of theft resolved by the Crime Suppression Division police.

 

Arrested in Muang district of Saraburi was Naret, 43, and in the Udom Suk area of Bang Na, Bangkok, forty four year old Patcharalak was nabbed. 

 

They were both named in warrants issued on Wednesday for stealing from their employer and money laundering. 

 

The case came after a company that issues cards for phone usage noticed that 240 million baht's worth had gone missing from a store. It came to light that the missing cards were being offered on the cheap to various stores.

The two suspects were behind the theft and then it appeared they bought goods to launder the money.

 

Their assets that were seized comprised a dozen categories that were worth 97 million baht:

 

1. Forty amulets worth 5,265,000 baht

2. 103 designer bags worth 2.7 million

3. Gold jewelry and bullion worth 1,920,000 baht

4. 15 watches worth 3,710,000 baht

5. 17 bankbooks

6. Seven electronic communication devices

7. Three cars worth 8.4 million

8. Investment policies and life insurance worth 75 million.

9. Four land title deeds.

10. 158,000 baht in accessories

11. 606,000 baht in cash

12. Other documentation.

And no early audit alarms were triggered despite losses of a quarter of a billion baht? Nonexistent or shoddy product inventory?
