PHUKET: The last three occupiers of state land at Layan Beach have until Friday to remove their chattels and belongings before machinery is sent in to demolish the buildings on Monday (July 19), MaAnn Samran, chief of the Cherng Talay Tambon Administration Organisation (OrBorTor), has confirmed.

Thailand’s COVID-19 home isolation NHSO scheme kicks off with over 1,200 medical volunteers

The home isolation scheme, where asymptomatic and mild COVID-19 cases are asked to stay home, with online care from medics, started today (Wednesday) under the “Warm Community Clinic” banner, with as many as 1,283 medical volunteers in support. The scheme is to provide a solution to the current hospital bed shortage, caused by continuously rising infections and deaths in the country.

GPO files defamation against two public figures over profit claim in Moderna deal

Thailand’s Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO) has lodged a complaint with Phaya Thai police in Bangkok, accusing Dr. Boon Vanasin and Mr. Loy Chunpongtong of spreading false information about profit being sought in the Moderna vaccine procurement process, to discredit the organization.

Chonburi releases new order dropping gathering limit in half, requiring permission for charity events, temporarily closing another factory

Thammasat hospital to rent two chilled cargo containers for growing number of COVID-19 corpses

The Thammasat University Hospital is renting two refrigerated shipping containers, to be used to chill the corpses of COVID-19 victims, because existing mortuaries do not have the capacity to handle the increasing number of people dying from the disease and other causes.

Purchase of 120 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine for 2022 approved by NVC

The National Vaccine Committee (NVC) approved today (Wednesday) the procurement of another 120 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine for next year, but withheld its approval of a draft announcement, regarding AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured in Thailand for export, to ensure sufficient vaccine for Thais in the wake of rapid surge in infections.
