Help Please! Does Anyone Know Of A Good Source Of Supply For Eukanuba Dog Food?

Cookie has been raised on Eukanuba dry dog food, progressing from puppy to adult, large breed. The breeder I bought Cookie from recommended it, and she has thrived, without hardly a day of sickness, and is very healthy, bright and active. She receives no other food, and following an earlier enquiry in this forum I'm sticking to that, for as long as she remains strong and healthy.

I have been experiencing increasing problems in finding a Eukanuba supplier in Pattaya. There are a couple of pet shops that used to sell it, but even they have run out now, and no-one can give me any idea when - if ever - they will have a new stock. I have spent days trawling all the pet shops in Chon Buri - with no luck.

Apparently Eukanuba is imported (Japan or USA I'm not sure).

Can anyone give me a good source of Eukanuba in Bangkok - or anywhere really. If I find one, I would buy about 6 months supply to keep me going - maybe if I order enough I could even get it delivered?

Either way, I'm getting fairly desperate, and I am reluctant to change a winning formula.

Thanks folks.

I use Manoon Petshop near Rama 3 in Bangkok. They are fairly consistent in their supply, and they have many branches in the metro area. 02-673-3323 PM me if you need the mobile number of the manager who speaks some English.

I use shamushamu in Phuket and I like them a lot

They've got a branch or 2 in BKK but I don't know about Pattaya, but I'm sure they can ship it to you.

http://www.shamushamu.com/

Looks like the site is down for repairs but you can call them at the BBK telephone number

Correction the Front end of their site is down. Found their contact page

Looks a little out of date because no mention of their Phuket branch.

I believe I have seen Eukanuba in a pet shop in Suan Lum Night Bazaar. The good thing is they stay till late and they are easily accessible by Metro.

Any manoon branch.

I find the smamushamu owner to be a ######. She tries to rip people off and is unfriendly.

The best is the food shop behind Seri Center. Lots of freebies and discounts if you're a regular.

It's easily available in Chiang Mai, so they must definitely have in BKK and I would have though Pattaya.

You would have thought so, but unfortunately not. I must have been in over a dozen pet supply shops, and while they sometimes have the odd small bag of Eukanuba, it is never what I want - large breed, adult. And when I ask them (in Thai) if they will be getting any in, they just look blankly at me and shrug their shoulders. I get the impression that a majority of dog ownesr here, buy the cheaper brands, so they don't bother with it.

Thanks for that, I might try driving there,. next time I go to BKK.

I've looked at the smaushamu website and they say they can deliver. That would be ideal. Unfortunately most of the web site is in Thai and I can't read Thai, and my wife is away.

Can anyone tell me if they have had any experience of home delivery ( I live 15 kms east of Pattaya), and if so, how you pay? Is it cash on delivery or do I have to pay by credit card or atm transfer?

Thanks for any info

Eukanuba is available in just about every pet shop in Bangkok I have been to, and that is many. Since you would be driving in from Pataya, go the ones suggested just behind Seri Center on Srinakarin. One large one is immediately accross the street from Bua Restaurant. These shops are actually attached to the Seri shopping center, just accessed from behind it. I was there today, and can get a phone # for you next time I go. I have asked for a card, but it is one of those places that say we don't have cards, but everybody knows us.

No Eukanuba.

Mobi, this evening I went to the pet store I normally go to, and out of curiosity l checked for Eukanuba and found there wasn't any. I asked the owner of the shop and she said there is some problem out of the US and the importer has been out of stock for over a month. This includes all Eukanuba products (my dogs also ate the biscuits).

She has given me the name of the importer and Bangkok phone # and I will call next week to see what is going on. I did ask her what to buy instead and while she carries most other brands, she said Royal Cannin is about the same as Eukanuba. I have bought this one in the past and I don't remember my dogs being over excited, but other than raw foods (which they get from time to time), I guess it will be Royal Cannin.

If you found it at Shamushamu please let me know as there may well be more than one importer.

Hi there is a lovely little pet shop just opened up on North Pattaya Road, called "Dog & Cat pet shop Pattaya" was in there today and they sell Eukanuba. The owner is called Jintana, and she speaks pretty good English, also the shop is new (open a couple of months) so she is keen for business, as such she is prepared to order in what she can sell. Her number is 0878195355, 038420936 at 266/23 Moo 9 North Pattaya, you could give her a try.

Chubbly, today I talked to the owner of one of the larger pet shops in Bangkok and he said that while Eukanuba won't export out of the US until they reconcile the issues on pet deaths, some (including his shop) are bringing it in from Malaysia due to the demand for it. Since he wasn't sure to what extent Eukanuba's dry products would be effected, if at all, to be safe he is feeding his pets (several dogs including goldens), Regal Turkey and Rice which is manufactured by US Grains and doesn't include any wheat products. Their website is www.regalpetfoods.com.

I don't know. He has Eukanuba and now that I know where to buy it in Bangkok, the fact that the Eukanuba company doesn't want to sell their products abroad just yet doesn't give me a whole lot of comfort.

OMR, you had me worried for while there. I've now Googled extensively on this subject, and have read the statements issued by P& G, the Eukanuba manufacturers. Their dry food products are absolutely fine and do not conatin any of the wheat gluten and other processed items from China that have caused the problems.

Their dry food products have NOT been recalled and are perfectly safe. Eukanuba have voluntarily recalled some of their wet food products, but state that these are also safe.

The problem with finding the right food is that I need LARGE BREED, ADULT, and even when you find shops that sell Eukanuba, they don't have this particular formula in 15 kilo bags.

I will check the one in Pattaya Nua, but I'll be surprised if they have what I want, and whenever I ask a shop to order for me, they have no idea when it will come.

However, I can now report success. :o

I found pet shop off Soi Thonglor (Soi 15) next to Villa who stock Eukanuba, but as usual, not the one I wanted. However, I paid cash in advance and they had 2 bags delivered to their shop in 3 hours. This is the first time I have found anywhere that can do this.

Now the emergency is over, I will continue searching for a good supply - maybe ShamuSamu, maybe the Animal hospital in Thonglor. It's a long story but I didn't go there. I will phone and try to find out.

Anyway, in the meantime, the shop in Thonglor, near Villa will order for you.

Mobi, sorry for the confusion. I am well aware that their dry is fine, having read up on the subject when it was first posted on TV in another thread. However, after reading your first message, I checked my usual place only to be told that Eukanuba in the US had stopped exporting ALL of their products from the US. After checking at another shop completely independent of the first, I was again told that Eukanuba was no longer available from the US, which was the usual source of the product in Thailand. Instead, it was now being brought in from Malaysia, and some places were out of stock of some product while this change took place.

I don't know why this sudden change in strategy by Eukanuba, but given the timing coming on the heels of the deaths in the US, the person I talked to this weekend had switched brands to a rice based pet food. If my dogs like it I will do the same. If not, then back to Eukanuba.

That's OK. :o

The two bags I purchased were imported from the USA. In spite of the problems I've had getting the particular product I want, there is loads of Eukanuba products around, so hopefully they will sort their import strategy by the time I need to buy again.

Anyway, 30 kilos should keep Cookie going for a while :D
