webfact
Picture: New Na Naew Na reported on the latest press briefing at Immigration HQ yesterday fronted by IB chief Pol Lt-Gen Sompong "Big Oud" Chingduang. The chief was commenting on a joint operation by Chumphon provincial police, Lamae station officers and Region 6 immigration after a checkpoint in Lamae stopped a suspicious van with Phuket plates. It was driven by Thanatkorn, 47, a Thai national and inside were four Chinese nationals and two Malaysians. Four had passports but no stamps and two had no passports. The driver was charged with aiding and abetting illegal immigration and the rest were detained for illegal entry. It emerged from inquiries that the driver had been paid 3,300 baht to move the illegals from a hotel in Hat Yai, Songkhla to the Rama 2 area of Bangkok. The money and evidentiary trail soon led to Prasit who paid the Thai driver the money, Prasit's son Pawit, Jiraphan at the hotel who booked in the illegals, Baraheng who drove them from the Malaysian border, a go-between called Uthai, a Mrs Yan who is from Myanmar and her adopted daughter Suthisa. Arrest warrants are now out for all concerned. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2021-07-16 - Whatever you're going through, the Samaritans are here for you - Follow ASEAN NOW on LINE for breaking COVID-19 updates

impulse
$110 for a 12 hour drive. Ostensibly, through a bunch of checkpoints. I hope that was per head...

Exactly my thoughts and more than a 12 hour drive from Hat Yai not a good time to be doing something dodgy
